As Ithel pondered how he'd see Grace again, she was sitting down next to Claire on her couch with a glass of wine.
After taking a large swallow of a lovely Rose, Grace turned to Claire and said, "I really appreciate you letting me stay here. I just had to get away from her."
"What did she do?"
"She broke a promise."
"What promise?"
"The promise isn't important. It's that she broke it...I don't know what has happened to her. She never would've done that before. It's like I'm growing up, and she's regressing."
"I've told you before. You're too good for her."
"I know."
"I'm serious. I know y'all were best friends growing up and everything, but people change. And it's time for you to cut her out of your life. You're going places, and she just isn't."
"You're right. It's just we were more than just friends. She was basically my sister."
"Yeah, she was, but if she was really your sister, would she break a promise she made you."
"No."
"You know I wouldn't break a promise a made you."
"I do, and I really appreciate that," but Gracedidn't actually know that. She hadn't known Claire that long, and her and Karireally were sisters. But, Kari had changed, and she just couldn't understandwhy she came up with that crazy plan with Brandon. So, she had to ask herself,"Was Claire right? Should she cut Kari out of her life?"
