I shut the mailbox outside of Jayden's house. When I heard someone walking around the corner, I ran to hide behind the dying tree in his front yard. It was him.
He walked over briefly to the mailbox. He was about to close it, expecting nothing to be there, but when he saw it, he hesitantly pulled it out. I could tell that the first thing he saw was the dry crust of blood.
I couldn't bear watching him read it. I managed to sneak away without being noticed.

I needed something that would surely end a life. Something that I couldn't come back from.
I hesitated as I grabbed a knife from the holder, but knew it was for the best. I sighed, holding it in a strong grasp, preparing to face a serious kind of deja vu.
