I shut the mailbox outside of Jayden's house. When I heard someone walking around the corner, I ran to hide behind the dying tree in his front yard. It was him.

He walked over briefly to the mailbox. He was about to close it, expecting nothing to be there, but when he saw it, he hesitantly pulled it out. I could tell that the first thing he saw was the dry crust of blood.

I couldn't bear watching him read it. I managed to sneak away without being noticed.
