Namjoon's POV:
I took in a deep breath exhaling it out slowly only to repeat the process. I was so nervous. You'd think I wouldn't be that'd be fine considering I have stood in front of hundreds of people to perform on a stage. Yet, the anxiety I feel right now at the prospect of meeting just two people is something I can't even begin to describe. I felt my hand be squeezed drawing me to my surroundings. I looked down to my left at Adeline who was looking up at me with a smile.
"Relax." She smiled up at me.
"Easy for you to say." I countered with a nervous laugh.
She grabbed my arms and shifted me to face her.
"Joon. You will be fine. You really don't need to be nervous. My parents are really sweet people."
"I know, it's just, they are your parents you know. I want them to like me."
I saw her features soften before she leaned up and pressed her lips, to my clothed ones due to my mask, gently before settling back down as she intertwined our hands. I felt my nerves ease a bit. Not completely but enough.
"You're right." I spoke with a smile.
"Of course, I am. Now come on. My parents are already here. They made a reservation." She said smiling in return as she pulled me through entrance doors of Jongro BBQ*.
"Hi, table for two?" A young guy asked us as we crossed into the restaurant.
I looked around adjusting my snapback to hide my face further before tucking my hands in my pockets.
"Actually, we are meeting our party here. Pond." Adeline answered for us.
"Okay, let me see where you guys are seated. One second." The host said as he started to scan a seating chart. "Ah, here you are. Okay guys follow me." He said as he turned around and walked down the main aisle.
I took in the place as we followed. I liked the interior. It was all wood with the grill exhaust, in black and silver, dropping down from the ceiling for the grills that were built into the tables. The subway tiles that adorned the wall were also in a neutral color that went well with the natural wood of the tables and seats. It was a comfortable atmosphere. Still looking around Adeline nudged me.
"I told my parents to ask for a table in the very back so that you would be more comfortable eating out in public and to minimize being recognized."
"I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I am grateful." I said wanting nothing more than to pull her into a kiss and hug her in gratitude.
Before Adeline could respond the server stopped in front of us.
"Here you are." He said with an outstretched hand.
"Thank you." Both Adeline and I said in unison.
As the server stepped away, I could see two people standing up from their seats inside the booth which could only be Adeline's parents. Adeline's mother was closest to me. Her and Adeline looked exactly alike. The only differences were their heights and her mother's hair which was a little shorter than Adeline's own and had a streak of grey running through the front of her hair that was tucked behind her ears. Adeline's father was taller than both of them. He had dark hair and the same color eyes as Adeline. As I looked at him, I could see that Adeline despite looking so similar to her mother did share some of his features albeit subtle ones like his face shape, eyes, and their smiles were the same. With them both standing in front of me I bowed.
"Hello!" I stood up extending my hand pulling my mask down as I did. "I'm Namjoon. It is nice to meet you." I said shaking each of their hands as they too bowed in return.
