Yenai's POV
"Come on!" I hissed, shoving the nail file into the lock of Erik's office. I know, I know! It's wrong for me to break into his office but what could be SO bad that he has to hide it from me? It's been nearly a month since I moved in and I haven't had a chance to be nosey until now. It was late and Erik had business to take care of so I didn't have a lot of time before-
My phone started ringing loudly and my soul left my body in fear. I angrily answered it.
"Hello?"
"Yenai!" Jane shouted through the phone. "I need you to get down to the sushi place, Shunji ASAP!" I looked at my watch.
"Jane, it's 8 PM on a Saturday!" I reminded her, still trying to open the door.
"Thank you for the reminder Time Keeper," she snapped. "I'm meeting with clients from Vogue and they're asking about the African Print dress you made and I don't know what to say!" I stopped picking and smiled.
"They like my dress?" I squealed. "I'll be right there!" I dropped the file and dashed into my closet. I didn't have much in there, Erik insists on taking me shopping but I feel odd taking money from him, so I keep dodging his offers. I grabbed a nice dress and put on minimal makeup before dashing out the door. My excitement was overwhelming as I got in my Uber. I needed to call someone to tell them the great news and I didn't want to interrupt whatever Erik was doing so I dialed the Twins.
"Hello?" Alyssa whispered. I could barely hear her because of the racket in the background.
"Hey, loves. You busy?" I asked.
"Um, yeah. We're gonna have to call you back. Caio!" She spoke quickly before the line went dead. Terrific. When I arrived to the restaurant, my stomach immediately started to churn. I fucking hated sushi. The last time I had it, I was in fifth grade at my friend's bunny's birthday party. Long story short, I ate sushi, threw up and when I got home, I sharted. I've sworn off sushi since then.
Jane and the clients were seated at a long table in the back.
"There she is!" Jane grinned standing up to hug me. She pulled me in tightly and hissed in my ear, "You're late! Remember, these dresses were my idea! Got it?"
"Got it," I rolled my eyes and we sat down.
"Yenai, this is Dean and Ramona Heining, from Vogue. They saw the printed dress in our last issue," Jane put on the fakest smile.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," I greeted. "I'm sorry I'm late, should we order?"
"No worries, we ordered for the table. Our treat," Ramona signaled the waiter to come over and he laid out 8 different types of sushi in front of us. The memory from 5th grade flooded back due to the smell and I felt myself getting nauseous.
"Um..." I gagged. "I don't really eat-" Jane kicked my shin.
"Our guests have generously paid for our meal, the least you can do is eat it!" She hissed. I put on a slight smile and put a piece of toro in my mouth, swallowing it slowly. After finishing it, I cleared my throat and resumed the conversation. "I was so happy to hear you like the dress!"
