It was a peaceful night. Our day's work had finally come to an end. Jake was in the shower, while I was sitting on the couch, mindlessly staring out the window.

The full moon hung high in the sky. The forest's tall trees were cast in a beautiful glow by its gentle light. I had always loved watching the moon. Its rounded form had a certain beauty. And when I realized that the Moon couldn't shine on its own and that its light originated from the Sun, I became even more enamored by it. Observing, trying to understand how such a lovely, perfect light could not be its own.

Jake came out of the shower. I silently watched him in each tiny movement. The house was dark, but the moonlight made his shape apparent to my eyes. His dark hair reflected the moonbeam. Each drop of water that fell from it made him look like he was sparkling.

He put on his clothes and came over to where I was sitting. Silently, he ran his hand through my hair, caressing each strand with utmost tenderness. Without a word, we sat by each other. Our moonlit faces gleamed. As the seconds ticked by, my eyes grew heavier and heavier until they closed completely as I leaned into his tender touch.

"What are you thinking about?" - Jake asked, breaking the silence. I felt the warmth of his palm on my cheek.

"Mhm. About what I want to do with you once you find your freedom."

"And what is that?" - His voice was still ever so gentle, as if he was worried he would disturb the silence of the night.

"I want to hold your hand and take a walk with you in the forest at dawn. I want to have another date in a Chinese restaurant and feed you all the food you like. I want to travel the world with you and see you enjoy the littlest things life has to offer."

"Mhm, I see."

"And you? What do you want to do when you find your freedom?"

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And do all the things you want with you."

"Only the things I want? We should do things you want too, Jake."

"Then please help me think of some later. I can only think of one thing right now and it's you." - He chuckled softly.

"Alright, I promise I'll help you think of some. The moon is our witness."

"Yes, the moon is our witness." - He said then pulled me closer into a kiss. Soft, gentle and magical. Just like the moon.

"I love you, Jake." - I whispered into his lips.

"I love you too, Bailey." - Then we kissed again.
