That fateful day at the amusement park, when Bailey was left stranded and alone by her own mother, was a turning point in her life. She suddenly found herself homeless, abandoned by the only adult she had ever known, and forced to fend for herself. From the age of 5 to 10, she resided at the Mercy Home for Girls in Mooseheart. That's how she met Blanc.

Blanc was 3 years older than Bailey and had a terrible reputation for her quick temper and constantly being up to no good. Blanc was not a bully, but her caustic comments and constant sarcasm made her seem like one. Therefore, Blanc discovered a new source of enjoyment in tormenting little Bailey when she first arrived at the orphanage, since Blanc had become tired of all the usual suspects.

At first, Bailey was a crybaby. She refused to speak to anybody and would constantly withdraw to a corner to cry. Oddly enough, she didn't want people to know. Blanc, though, was well aware of this, having kept a close watch on Bailey ever since she arrived.

Needless to say, when Blanc found out about Bailey's secret, she taunted her incessantly. Blanc would call Bailey a crybaby or impersonate her weeping wherever she went, turning Bailey into a joke for the other kids. Blanc was pleased with how well her jokes had been received and that her target of torment had "happily" endured all of it. Blanc dismissed Bailey as a shy and timid kid, a giant pushover who would let anybody have their way with her. Thus, she gave herself the right to continue escalating the joke and including the other youngsters in her mischief. Until one day in the cafeteria.

It was a typical lunch period, with the kids enjoying their delicious, hot meals and Blanc providing some lighthearted comedy by poking fun at Bailey's eyes. She had said something in the line of:

"Oh, poor little Bailey. She cries so much that now her eyes bulge out like those of a cow. Moo~"

Blanc and all the other kids were so busy laughing at her silly joke that she failed to notice Bailey was approaching her with a tray of hot soup in her hands. In one swift movement, Bailey had dumped all the food over Blanc's head. Blanc yelled out in horror as she felt the hot liquid cascade over her head and face. But that wasn't the end of it. Bailey, holding the tray of food, stood there and struck Blanc in the head many times.

Being caught off guard, Blanc rolled into a ball on the floor as she tried to shield herself from the continual onslaught of cold, hard metal hitting her head.

And there we had it. 5 year-old Bailey, who was one head shorter than several kids her age, was towering over Blanc, the supposedly toughest kid in the whole orphanage, and attacking her like a feral cat while screaming repeatedly, "How dare you make fun of me?" Until, that is, a bunch of nuns and teachers came over and yanked Bailey away from Blanc. Even then, Bailey was still trying to crawl out of their grip to hit Blanc again. Blanc was lucky to get away with just a couple of bruises and bumps on her head.

No one at the orphanage would dare tease Bailey again after that. Blanc, on the other hand, grew to admire Bailey. After a year of Blanc following Bailey around, trying to win her favors, they finally became friends, in the weirdest sense of that word.

Blanc was the first person to teach Bailey how to code. The newfound knowledge led the duo to many new mischiefs as they grew older.

For instance, they were playing around with the orphanage's database one day when they figured out how to use SQL injection attacks to log in as the system administrator. A thought occurred to the young girls. As one thing led to another, they were soon at the top of the class, having straight A's in all subjects, without even lifting a finger... or a book.

It didn't take long for the teachers to notice something was amiss. They were the ones in charge of giving grades to these two young women, and they couldn't think of anything particularly impressive that they had accomplished in school. So how come their reports were constantly contradictory? Soon enough, they learned that the girls had been hacking the orphanage's computer system and changing their grade reports.
