"Don't wanna cry but I break that way
Cold sheets, but where's my love?
I am searching high
I'm searching low in the night"

Jaxon's POV:

"Send him in now!" I yell at the man standing in the doorway.

This morning I wake up and begin to do my work, like everyday. Elijah bursts into my office talking about how happy he was that Noa was talking to him again.

I had been missing her, and the two days that she didn't even look in my direction were hell. So, I decided that maybe I should go see if she's still mad at me. I stood outside of her door, knocking. She didn't answer, the first time so I called out to her.

But, when I pressed my ear against the door, to see if she was even in there, I couldn't hear her breathing. So, I opened the door to see her room empty. No worries, maybe she's downstairs. It was early in the morning so she could've been eating breakfast.

I made my way downstairs, and saw nothing. That's when I began to get worried about her. I went outside, she was probably with her plants. Nothing. I asked Kieran and Elijah, they hadn't seen her. She's nowhere to be found and her car is still sitting in the driveway. Someone fucking took her.

Now, I'm sitting at my desk, fuming as I talk to every single guard that was on night duty last night. The door opens and one of the guards that was stationed at the top of the stairs, Aaron, walks in, his head held down low.

"Good m-morning s-sir." He stutters, clearly scared for his life. He fucking should be.

"No! It's not a good morning! Would you like to know why? Because my mate was fucking kidnapped and my shitty guards didn't do a damn thing about it!" The volume of my voice increases the more I talk. He flinches as I scream at him.

"Now you're going to tell me, how she got kidnapped." I say, asking him to start from the beginning.

"W-well, I'm not sure. I remember she went downstairs at four in the morning, but I don't r-remember seeing her come b-back up, t-though." Aaron stuttered.

"What did she go down for?"

"I'm not sure-" I cut him off

"You fucking idiot! What did I tell you when I gave you this job? Make sure you have eyes on her at all fucking times! At all fucking times!"

I take a few breaths, trying to calm myself. Yelling at people is not going to bring her back, Jaxon. Just try and get the full story.

"Why don't you remember her coming back up?" I ask, in a much more level-headed voice.

"I- Well- It was late- So-"

"Spit it out, Aaron." I order.

"I kind of f-fell a-asleep." Is he fucking kidding me right now?

All the deep breathing that I'd just done to calm myself down, went out the window after I heard those words come out of his mouth.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I voice my thoughts, feeling the rage bubble up inside me.

"N-no sir-"

"Do I fucking pay you to sleep? No! Get the fuck out of my sight before I order your execution!" I raise my voice at him.

He stands up so fast, I'm surprised he didn't get whiplash and scurries out of my office, tripping over his own feet twice.

I can't just fucking sit here and do nothing. Kieran and Elijah are out looking for her, they told me to stay her and find out as much as I could about the situation, even though I desperately wanted to look for her as well. I hope she's okay. Whoever fucking did this is going to pay.

I've called and messaged Oliver, but he hasn't been responding at all. I want to know where ghe is. I could use his help around here right about now.

"Get me the tech guy up here now!" I say to particularly no one. This house is full of vampires, one of them is bound to hear and bring him to me.

Surely enough, a matter of minutes later, the tech guy comes waltzing in through the door.

"I need you to check all of the cameras starting from four in the morning. Inform me if you see anything concerning my mate."

"Yes sir." I've always liked him. He knows how to follow orders well.

I step out of my office, going downstairs and outside into the small garden Noa's made for herself. It's funny how she forces Kieran to help her, even though he doesn't want to.

I've never seen him more distressed than the moment I told him someone had taken her. He always had his poker face on, but today he couldn't hide his emotions.

I stare at the small flowers that were growing. God, how could I fail her? If I wouldn't have buried myself in work, I would've known. I would've been able to help her. I'm an idiot. Who knows the amount of pain she's in right now. I wince just thinking about it.

An idea comes to my head, the werewolves. Maybe they could help us. Sure, vampires are good with hearing and they do have a better sense of smell than humans, but werewolves have even more enhanced senses than we do.

I pull out my phone, calling the alpha of the pack in Oregon. I hear the line trill as the phone rings. He picks up after four rings.

"Anthony." I say, worriedly.

"Jaxon! It's been a while! I heard you've found your mate, congratulations! How are you?" He says in his usual cheery voice, not picking up how upset I am.

"Actually, it's about my mate. She's been kidnapped, I don't know what to do. I need your help, please." I plead with him.

"Oh. We'll be there as soon as possible." He hung up immediately. Hopefully they get here soon.

I waited out in the garden, letting Kieran and Elijah know I asked Anthony for help, until I heard footsteps on the gravel in the driveway again. I walk up to the front door and see Anthony with about fifteen men behind him.

"Thank you so much. I need her here, I can't live without her." I say hurriedly, allowing them in.

"We'll do the best we can to help. I can't imagine my mate, Luke, being kidnapped. It would break me." He said, an understanding look on his face.

"If you have a piece of her clothing or a pillow or something with her scent on it, I can give it to a few of my men to smell, and they'll go out to search for her." I nod rapidly, before using my vampire speed to go into her room and see a shirt on the floor. I bring it back down to them.

Anthony takes it from me, giving it to the men behind him, and they start smelling it.

I've found something. The tech guy's voice sounds through my head.

I head up stairs immediately, motioning for Anthony to come along with me. When we get to my office, the man stands up from his seat as we come closer to his laptop.

I press the space bar on the keyboard, playing the video he clipped from the security camera.

The video shows a man carrying out an unconscious Noa, which makes my fists clench, but that's not what truly angers me. No, what truly sets me off is when the man accidentally turns and I see the face of my most trusted guard, Oliver.
