Every small sound was loud to Kate. A clock tick, a fly buzz, thunder. Her external world was loud but her inner world was almost silent now. The woman cradled Kate's head softly in one hand and Kate drank from her other wrist. This blood was smooth, cold, calm unlike the blood from before. Rancid, cold and yet it felt like fire in her throat and hatred. If she had to describe what hatred tasted like, it was that putrid blood. This was an entirely different experience than that one. Kate was still weak but she could feel life return to her again. The woman took her wrist away and brushed Kate's hair caringly as this feeding did it's job of revitalizing Kate."Do you understand how naive you were? How careless? Look what I had to do to you Kate. You didn't think you would be recognized? I can't turn a magazine page without your face being on it. I had a feeling you would let your guard down and I was right." She still combed through Kate's dirty blonde hair. Kate was still not at her best but she managed to sit up away from the woman. And rest against the wall.
"Can you take these chains off?" Kate finally spoke for the first time since the woman had returned. The woman nodded and produced the key from her pocket and unlocked the iron cuffs. Kate rubbed her wrists and ankles and watched the woman wearily. She knew she wouldn't hurt her, then again she was the one who turned her into whatever this was. A vampire? "I need some answers." Kate lowered her gaze, fearless. What did she really have to lose right now?
"You will get them but I feel your parents should be present." The woman replied, her steel grey eyes unmoving from Kates gaze.
"Can I atleast know your name?"
"Okay. My name is Lucia but I go by Luck. I'm from a place that no longer exists, when Pangea separated into continents, my home was swallowed by the earth, and up from the earth came the evil and what the evil didn't kill, it transformed." Luck paused and sighed heavily. "Your parents don't even really know all of that."
"Pangea?" Kate licked her lips, tasting remnants of Luck's blood. "This isn't real right? You did not just say you survived the splitting of Pangea, I didn't just drink blood out of you and" Kate paused, clutching her stomach and letting out the loudest, longest most painful belch Kate had ever experienced. "Oww oh my god."
"See? I wish I had stuck to my threat of waiting two hours. As a newbie, consuming blood, especially straight from a doner gives you extreme gas. Both ways." Luck explained with a straight face and Kate felt her rectum involuntarily tighten.
"Will I shit myself?" Kate felt fear in every part of her body. If burping was this painful, how much worse could it be coming from the other end?
"Oh, no. You already did that when you teetered too long between life and death in the tube station. When I brought you back here I had to-"
"STOP! Okay I get it. Spare me the details. I've died enough for one lifetime. So I can't consume food?"
"We can consume food but it's not necessary. It serves no purpose and bowel movements are extremely unpleasant for our kind."
"Our kind? Vampires?" Kate raised an eyebrow. Luck flashed her fangs in a wide grin.
"No. Vampires are mostly fictional. Merely a game of telephone about what I am. Cyan. We aren't very fast, but we are stronger than a typical human, we can actually be in the sunlight it's just obvious we are sick because we are grey and our fangs that's why we have adapted the ability to mask. We can appear to age, become young, even change genders. We can blend. We can fool anyone. We are immortal. And we have the ability of prediction and visions. We must consume blood to survive. Blood starvation is possible but it's long and gruesome and torture. It's the only way for us to cease to exist. Blood lust can be cured, blood cravings can be curbed but the absolute necessity to consume it is forever. I don't believe in aimless murder, so I seek those out who don't deserve mercy. You don't have to do that if you don't want, you can feed from me but I will not be enough, you need blood from life."
"No fucking way! I'm not going to start killing people." Kate spat defiantly, but beneath her tough act she swallowed hard, could she face that kind of death?
"Three outcomes of biting someone. You can drain them dry and kill them, you can release a kind of venom from the roof of our mouths out through our fangs and turn them or you can simply feed from them. The third is harmless. It may give the donor a bit of a high but it's harmless and the bite marks heal within hours. Have you ever smoked marijuana?" Luck asked and Kate nodded confused. "That's how it feels for the donor. As we feed, instead of releasing venom we release pheromones which affect the dopamine in the donors brain and they can feel euphoric, hungry, aroused, energized and serene. The problem is, finding a good donor." Luck glanced at her watch. "Your parents just landed. They'll be here within the hour. Would you like to clean up or anything? I know you're slowly gaining strength but, you've shown me just how strong and determined you are already. So I offer my assistance but I fully trust you don't need it." Luck smiled at Kate knowingly and Kate felt herself looking away bashfully. The way Luck looked at her then made Kate feel something she had no definition for. So, proving Luck right, Kate stood up on her own.
"Yeah, I've got this."
A/N: one shots two shots red shots blue shots, this prompt was meant to just be a one chapter thing but I'm digging this a lot. Should it be a story on its own? Or could it be easily wrapped up in maybe one more part? Feedback is highly appreciated
