DAMON

It was about 7:30 by the time I got back to the mansion after dropping Dean off at Sheila's and when I walked into my room, I was greeted with the sight of Vicki splayed out across the bed staring up at the ceiling. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Contemplating the next hundred years," she moped, turning to look at me as I sat down next to her on the mattress. "Why'd you do it?"

I frowned slightly. "I was... bored."

Vicki propped herself up on her forearm to glare at me. "You did this to me because you were bored?" I nodded in affirmation. "It's one of the pitfalls of eternity," I admitted. She huffed lightly as she sat up straight. "Now I'm bored. And all I can think about is blood," she whinged. "I just want some blood. I can't think about anything else. What's up with that?"

I chuckled at Vicki's antics.

Normally, I would find her whining to be insufferable, however, after the genuinely good day I had hanging out with Dean, I don't feel as prone to anger and annoyance like I usually am. And if I was being honest, I really liked feeling like this. And I was determined not to let anyone or anything take that feeling away from me. Not yet, anyway.

"Don't worry, that'll ease up," I assured. "You've just been cooped up all day. Come on, let's go." I rose to my feet and helped her up, even as she asked me where we were going.

"Your life was pathetic. Your afterlife doesn't have to be."

Then the two of us left the room and walked downstairs hand in hand. We had almost made it to the front door when Stefan had cut us off.

Kill joy.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"Stefan, she's been cooped up in the house all day. She's not Anne Frank," I sighed, reaching for the doorknob. He immediately grabbed my wrist and shook his head. "No, no, no. Hey, hey... Now's not the time for this."

I inhaled deeply as I tried to hold onto to my good mood. Leave it to Stefan to ruin everyone's fun, as per usual.

"Listen, if you're gonna teach her, teach her. Show her what it's all about," I offered.

"She could hurt someone," he rebuffed.

"Yeah, well, that tends to happen when you don't. Teach them," I emphasized. "Besides, it's not like I'm taking her to Disneyland. We're going to the front yard. Come on." Then I forcefully removed Stefan's hand and opened the door, allowing Vicki to get past before Stefan and I followed her outside.

"This is a bad idea, Damon," he expressed.

"She's a vampire, Stefan. She should know the perks," I replied.

"Like what?" she chimed.

"Like..." I trailed off. Then I used my super speed to run behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. She whirled around in amazement. "Whoa. How did you do that?" I smiled, before disappearing in a blur of motion and shadow, appearing behind her again. She laughed in excitement and I gestured for her to try, without thinking of the consequences. "Go on, Vicki. Live a little. No pun intended," I smiled.

She bolted off into a run before vanishing off into the woods in a whirl of motion. We waited a few moments for her to return and when she didn't that's when I realized my mistake. "Uh... my bad."

"Damn it, Damon!" Stefan swore.

DEAN

"Wait, wait. Let me get this straight. You spent the entire day with Damon Salvatore?" Bonnie scoffed. I rolled my eyes sardonically at her chiding summarization of what I told her.
"Seriously, Bon? I just told you guys that there is a secret society of anti-supernatural bigots that have sworn to eliminate every supernatural creature from Mystic Falls, and your takeaway was that I spent the day with Damon?" I groaned.

"Hey, I'm honestly surprised that you didn't kill him after everything he's done lately," Sam put in. "Sammy, we've been over this. You know why I haven't killed him," I responded. "Damon may enjoy being an eternal adolescent with an insatiable bloodlust, but I don't want that."

"Okay, you know what? Forget about it! Let's just get ready to go to the Halloween party at school," Bonnie suggested, changing the subject. "We could all use a good distraction from all the crazy stuff that's been happening." "That's the best idea, not including Dean teaming up with a psycho vampire, that I have heard all day," Sam remarked pointedly.

I gave him the middle finger just as my phone rang and I fished it out of my pocket and answered it immediately once I saw who it was. "Yeah, Stefan, what is it?"

I listened to him talk, ignoring the curious looks I was getting from Bonnie and Sam. As Stefan spoke, I felt my eyebrows knit together and my teeth grind against each other. "Damon. Did. WHAT?!"
