"Well, I talked to Grams, and she said the comet was a sign of impending doom," I explained. "The last time it passed over Mystic Falls, there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage, it created a bed of paranormal activity." I was startled out of my explanation by Sam choking on his glass of water.
"I'm sorry, what?" He said hoarsely, setting his glass back on the table.
I sighed. "I know, I know. I thought the same thing. It sounds pretty weird, right?"
"Weird is not the word I would use to describe that statement," Sam replied. I raised my hands defensively. "Don't blame me," I argued, "I'm just telling you what she told me."
"Mm, yeah, and then you poured Grams another shot and she told you about the aliens," Caroline snarked. "I'm with Sam on this."
"Actually, Care, that's not what I meant," Sam remarked. This earned him a lot of curious stares from Caroline, Elena, and I.
"Care to elaborate then?" Elena questioned.
"Well, uh, I just meant that throughout history there have been multiple tragedies and massacres that have been said to cause or be the root of paranormal activity," Sam stated. As Sam began to explain some of the more notable "paranormal" events that happened throughout history, the girls and I listened with rapt attention. Even Caroline had stopped criticizing the idea of the supernatural to listen to what Sam had to say.
When he finished telling his story, he said that while he didn't believe in all that stuff, he still thought it was pretty cool. "Well, anyway, I gotta get home and get my homework done before the watch party for the comet," he said gathering his stuff from the table. "Okay, see you later!" I said.
"Bye, Sam," Elena waved.
Once he was gone, Caroline quickly turned her attention back to Elena and said, "So then what?" "Then, nothing," she answered. "Dean, took you home last night," Caroline pointed out. "There was no sloppy first kiss or touchy-feely of any kind?"
Elena blushed and averted her eyes from the two of us. "Wait," I grinned, "there was some touchy-feely?" Caroline balked at Elena with intrigue and I eyed my friend curiously. "Nope, we didn't go there," she lied. "Elena," Caroline and I said in unison.
Finally, she sighed and said, "I told him how I felt about him." "Oh, my God!" I gasped. "Seriously?" Caroline piped up. "Would you guys calm down, please?" Elena begged. "No, I will most definitely not calm down!" Caroline retorted excitedly. "So then what happened, what did he say?" Elena bit her lip, trying and failing to hide her smile.
"He told me that he liked me, too," she confessed. "And then..."
I leaned in closer. "And then what?"
Elena smirked proudly and gave us a knowing look. "We kinda kissed in his car." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Caroline's jaw drop. "Now when you say "kissed," do you mean chaste and innocent or..." I trailed off.
"I mean, we were making out in his car like a couple of sexually active teenagers in a rom-com movie," Elena japed. It was my turn to gape now, as I sat back in my chair dumbfounded by Elena's confession. Caroline squealed and giggled with excitement. "Oh, my God! Who are you and what have you done to my best friend Elena?" she beamed.
"I'm just taking Dean's advice and living up my high school life, while I got it," the brunette grinned. "Speaking of, Dean is probably be done with whatever he had to do with Stefan, which means they are most likely at his house right now." Elena grabbed her stuff and made to stand up.
"Wait, where are you going?" I asked.
"To go see Dean," she responded. "We may both like each other, but we still have a lot of things that we need to work out and talk about."
"Well then, good luck," I smiled and waved, as I watched my friend leave.
"And if you plan to jump his bones make sure to use your hips!" Caroline shouted after her. I face-palmed at Caroline's words.
Sometimes, Caroline could be a little too... Much at times.
