Mina was wandering around the house looking for Nayeon, but she seemed to be hiding from her. She peeked in from room to room, finding nothing, until she got to Chaeyoung's room. She heard some hushed whispers coming from there as she quietly knocked on the door.
"Come in!" Chaeyoung exclaimed. Mina peered in.
"What's going on?" She asked. She found Nayeon on a ladder, taking orders from Momo who's arms were crossed. Chaeyoung was sitting on the floor messing with some trash.
"I got these LED lights for Christmas but I'm not sure how to hang them up. So Nayeon and Momo are helping me!" Chaeyoung exclaimed.
"Right. We are trying to figure out the best way to loop these around the room. Because if we also want to light up under the bed, we will just need to connect it. We also need to consider that these are all connected by these prongs but there's only so many of them. It also needs to go around the room," Momo said thoughtfully.
"They called me in for muscle," Nayeon smiled, raising her arms to stick the lights to the ceiling.
Moments like this really touched Mina. Nayeon worked so hard to make things perfect for everyone around her, even to her own demise. This was a small instance, considering Nayeon was moderately scared of heights. No matter the event, she would always give it her all. Mina sighed because she had been trying to talk to her, but there was always some excuse. Now definitely wasn't the time either.
"Ok I think that's it," Nayeon said, stepping down from the ladder. Chaeyoung clapped excitedly, grabbing the remote and testing it out. They all sat in the middle of the room and ogled at the color changing experience. As promised, they had managed to get the LED lights to go around the room and highlight the area under the bed.
"What color are you going to set your room to ring in the New Year?" Nayeon asked, admiring the work she had just done.
"Red," said Chaeyoung, grinning. "To warn my enemies."
Momo, Mina, and Nayeon all turned slowly, eyeing the young girl. Before any of them could ask what that was about, Sana's voice rang loud and clear, calling all of them downstairs.
The dining table had been set and the girls were all talking about how excited they were for the New Year as they came down the stairs. Mrs. Myoi listened as each of them recounted their wishes for this year, adding last minute seasonings to the food she was cooking. Mr. Myoi was in the kitchen getting last minute things together for the table at his wife's direction. Nayeon attempted to ask if there was anything she could do to help, but she was met with no response from the parents besides a small smile and "no thanks" from Mrs. Myoi. Sana and Momo had finished what they were doing and sat down at the table, so Mina and Nayeon followed suit.
"They're being weird, right?" Momo asked Sana, who nodded a lot.
"What's going on?" Nayeon asked, curious about how she could help.
"I mean, I'm assuming he's still not over the fact that you're here. And I think mom has been keeping him in line but it's been awhile," Sana responded, not looking up from her phone.
"Should I apologize...?" Nayeon asked, wanting to maintain the peace but unsure of how to approach this.
"No, don't. He needs to accept that this is what it's going to be," Mina said firmly. Nayeon nodded, and her sisters also nodded. Dahyun and Chaeyoung joined, bringing in some of the dishes they'd be eating.
"If he says anything, I'll tell him Nayeon is great!" Chaeyoung said firmly, earning a fist bump from Nayeon. The other girls laughed. Mina's parents finally entered the dining room, Mr. Myoi sitting at the head of the table and asking for Momo to bless the food. Mina and Nayeon both opened their eyes to peek while everyone else's were closed and smiled at each other. It's just something they did when they were in settings where people were praying.
