1 month later—December 4, 2021

Rayna
After being cooped up in Donovan's house for the past week I've decided that it's time for me to get out and start doing things for myself again. So me and Brody are out shopping.

"So you like D?"

"Yeah he's cool."

"I'm not talking about like that Yana?"

Brody decided to call me Yana instead of Ray.

"I do like him but-," Brody cut me off.

"There's no but Yana you like him or you don't."

"Okay find Brody yes I like Donny there's no doubt about it."

"Do you love him?"

"It's too early for that Brody but only time will tell."

"I can understand that."

"How did you and your wife met?"

"College sweethearts."

"Really?"

"Yeah we met junior year when we both ended up taking African American Studies and we ended up working together in a group project and we exchanged numbers, started off associates then friends then I made her my girlfriend. Graduation day I proposed to her then a year after that we got married now we're expecting our 3rd child together."

"Wow congratulations."

"Thank you."

I let out a yawn.

"Are you planning on stopping anywhere else in the mall?"

"No we can go I do want to stop and get some donuts."

"Sounds like a plan."

We made our way out of the mall and over to the SUV Brody opened the back door for me I thanked him and got in. Brody put the bags in the trunk and got in the driver seat.

My phone dinged I looked down and saw that Donovan texted my phone. I smiled and responded back.

"Ray where you want to get donuts at?"

"Uhh Sublime Donuts is fine."

"Alright who you back there texting your boyfriend."

I chuckled as I responded to Donovan.

"He's not my boyfriend yet Brody."

"Oh you said yet so y'all working on that?"

"Yes Mr. Nosey yes."

Brody laughed.

"Alright Ima leave you to it."

Brody proceeded on with driving through the light I heard tires screeching I looked up and it was a SUV speeding towards us. I tried yelling for Brody to speed up but it was too late the car collided and the SUV flipped and I was met with total darkness.

Donovan
I sped through traffic trying to get to the hospital I was honking my horn and all. When I got the call from Brody that they was in an accident and Rayna was hurt I immediately dropped everything I was doing and rushed to my car and drove off as I got the hospital that they was in from Brody. I finally arrived I sped through the parking lot and found a spot. I hopped out locking my car doors. I ran inside and before I could get over to the nurses station Brody came up to me.

"I didn't even see the SUV coming D I was too focused with crossing under the light Yana tried to warn me what was going on but by then the SUV collided with us and we flipped 3x who ever was driving was aiming for Yana and I tried to get to her but I couldn't."

"How is she?"

"She's still in surgery no word yet."

"Her parents here?"

"Yeah follow me."

I nodded and followed behind Brody. I shouldn't have let Rayana go out I should've just went out myself.

We made it to the floor Rayana is on we got off the elevator and we walked towards the waiting room.

"How you're holding up D?"

I didn't say anything.

"Don't hold it in son let it out I know what's up between you and my daughter just how shaken up you are."

"That's my world Mr. Roderick Ray is my world, she's my everything without her ion think I live she's changed me for the better I love every single thing about her she's perfect. Perfect for me she's my missing piece to my puzzle. I-I love her and I can't do live without her."

"How long have you known this?"

"For awhile now I hurt her and I wanted to wait until we were all the way back good before I just told her that I love her."

Mr. Roderick nodded.

"Then don't hesitate to tell her don't let her slip away again."

"Yes sir."

"I have my men working on the tag number on the SUV that hit Brody and Ray Brody was able to retrieve the tag as the driver was pulling away. And I know you want in on this but you're going to have to sit this one out."

I nodded.

"Also I don't want Ray to have anything to do with being head of Cartier Cartel if my gut is right I want her out matter of fact I want both of you out."

"And don't fight Roderick on this either," mama Candace spoke.

"I'm not."

A doctor walked out and walked over to us.

"How's Rayna doing," Mr. Roderick asked.

"Surgery was a success but she slipped into a coma."

"How long will it take for her to wake up," I asked.

"Possibly a few hours, days, months depends on her."

"Okay."

"And did you all know that she was pregnant?"

My eyes widened.

"No Dr. Gordon we didn't how far along is she?"

"About 5 weeks and 5 days."

I did the calculations in my head.

"Okay."

"Congratulations and I'll be back in a few hours to check in on Rayana even though she's in a coma she can hear you all."

"Okay thank you Dr. Gordon."

"Were you expecting this news D?"

"Not at all but it was expected we wasn't careful."

"How do you feel?"

"Scared hoping that she don't lose the baby you know with her past history and all."

"I understand just pray and everything is going to work out."

Mr. Roderick phone rung.

"Y'all gon and in the room with Rayana Ima answer this call."

"Okay."

We walked down hall and to the room Rayna was in I took a deep breath to prepare myself for the situation I'm about to see Rayna in.
