Hope that
when I roll my eyes,
They still tell you that you intrigue me.
Hope that
when I flick your ear,
My fingers somehow show that I'd rather caress.
Hope that
when I steal your snacks,
You'll know that what I really crave is your attention.
Hope that
when my words tease,
My smile still shows that you're the favorite part of my day.
I can only hope.
Hope
that when I want to be sweet but still feed you lemons;
when I just want to be in your arms, but pretend I'd rather play;
when I truly want you to stay and say you'd better go;
That -
when my resolve fails,
and my fear wins,
and my safety locks won't let my feelings escape -
You'll see the deepness in my eyes,
Feel the linger of my touch,
Hear the weakness of my contrived denials -
And know.
