Hey guys! Sorry that this is short and boring, it's more of a filler chapter. And I feel so bad for making you guys wait for so long! I just kind of blanked on ideas for this chapter and that's probably why it got a bit sloppy at the end, but it's something, right? :) Oh, and I gave you guys a cliffhanger because I love you and you're probably going to hate me but OH WELL. Okay, on to the chapter.

     "Did the mail come?"

My mom rolled her eyes at the question I had been asking for the past week now as I got home from school, but nonetheless threw a white letter at me with my name on it.

I immediately squealed, racing over to the house phone and dialing Cierra's cell.

"Hey." She answered, her voice a bit muffled.

"Are you home yet?" I asked excitedly, my hands exploring the outside of the large envelope.

"No, I'm still walking, I'm about thirty seconds away though. Why?" She asked.

"Get the mail on your way in." I said.

"Why would I -- oh my gosh. Get out. The letters came, didn't they!" She said, her tone changing from confused to ecstatic. "Mhm." I replied matter-of-factly. I could hear her pace quicken as her feet slapped against the pavement, the squeaking of the hinged door on her mailbox ringing in my ears.

"Uhh... Julia? Did you get a packet too?" She asked hesitantly, making my stomach drop a bit. "No..." I said. I was so sure that when they said that they had found their Abbey that they had meant me, I thought. "Oh..." An awkward silence fell across the phone line as that word left Cierra's mouth. I stood uncomfortably in the middle of my kitchen, my hand hovering nervously over the letter I had received.

"Well I didn't call you for nothing." I chuckled, letting out a shaky breath. "I wanted us to open the letters together. Or in your case, packet." I said, my tone getting a bit sour as I mentioned the last bit. I'm lucky she didn't notice or we would've gotten into some pointless argument that would spiral into subjects not even remotely related to our initial quarrel.

"Well we should FaceTime then." She said, and I nodded even though she couldn't see me.

"Alright. I'll call you in a bit." I answered, and she replied with a quick bye before hanging up. I threw the house phone carelessly onto the loveseat and grabbed my iPhone from the counter, unplugging it from the wall charger and flopping on the couch.

With phone in hand and letter in the other, I clicked on the FaceTime app and stared at Cierra's contact.

My eyes traveled slowly to the white envelope, reading over both addresses and scanning over the stamp. I turned it over, tracing my finger lightly over the seam of the sealed flap. I found myself picking at it, peeling it back slowly and trying not to rip it.

     "THAT'S WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL!"

I jumped at the sound of my ringtone, dropping the letter and gripping my phone tightly.

CIERRA IS UR BFFL! flashed on my screen, her contact picture smiling up at me.

I rolled my eyes, selecting 'accept video call' and positioning my cell in front of my face so she could see me.

"You didn't call me!" She said, pouting through my device. I smiled sheepishly. "I got carried away. I almost opened the letter. You know never to trust me when I say I'll do something." I said, raising my eyebrows at her.
