[Bradley's POV]

"This bagel tastes like cardboard." Julia said, wrinkling her nose at the everything bagel in her hand.

I had finally convinced her to wake up after what seemed like hours of coaxing. And promises of ice cream.

Sometimes I feel like she's still that over-dramatic five-year-old that I knew all of those years before.

I experimentally bit a little piece off of the edge of my bagel and made a face. "Yeah, you're right. This tastes like the paper bag that it came in." I said, and Julia nodded before dropping her bagel in the trash. "Let's ditch Dawn and Cierra and go to an actual restaurant to eat."

I chuckled but shook my head. "Dawn seems like one of those women that would go ballistic if she lost the kid that she's supposed to be watching. We should probably stick with them for the time being." I said, and Julia rolled her eyes.

"Fine, Mister Goody Two Shoes." She said, crossing the room and digging through what I assumed was her zebra-print suit case. She made a satisfied sound and rose a pair of black TOMS in the air. "Found 'em." She said, slipping on her shoes which matched her black tank top.

I had fallen asleep fully clothed, so I was already wearing my shoes. I rolled off of the bed that I had been laying on and stood, stretching my stiff limbs before walking tiredly to the hotel room's door. "We going or what?" I asked my childhood friend, who was digging through her suitcase. She waved her hand dismissively at me. "Calm yourself, I'm just getting my necklace. It'll only be another minute." She said as she pulled a sliver chain from the bag and began to fasten it around her neck.

"THAT'S WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL!"

"Ah!" Both Julia and I jumped at the loud ringtone that suddenly blared through the room. Julia grumbled, placing her necklace on the bedside table before grumpily picking up her phone from the bed. Her face paled after she saw the caller ID.

She quickly pressed something on the phone to make the ringing stop, which I assumed was the "ignore call" button. I gave her a look of confusion, and she shook her head, putting her phone in her pocket and biting her lip before picking up her silver locket and fastening it silently.

"Who was that?" I asked, and she shook her head. "Dawn and Cierra will flip shit if we're late for a day of shopping... let's go." She left the room, not even waiting for me to follow her before shutting the door.

[Julia's POV]

As soon as the door shut behind me I flinched. I hadn't meant to be rude to Bradley, it's just...  my dad had called and it was the second time that I ignored him this whole trip. I had managed to convince my mom to let Dawn drive me to the auditions instead of my father, and all was going well until her had called me.

I heard the hotel room door open again, but by then I was almost halfway to the elevator.

"Julia?" I heard Bradley call for me. I took a deep breath before turning around and cocking my head at him. "Yeah?" I said in a light tone. I turned and kept walking until I reached the elevator, pressing the button so it would light up.

"Who called you?" He said, after jogging to catch up with me. I began to make up another excuse not to tell him, but then realized that he should probably know.

"My father... if I can even call him that." I muttered, and Bradley's eyes widened in shock. The elevator made a dinging sound as the metallic doors slid open, and I stepped inside.

As Bradley scrambled to get inside the elevator before the doors closed, he began to talk. "What do you mean 'if you can even call him that'?" He asked, obviously shocked. I scoffed, shaking my head. "Well, let's just say that the kind man that you knew as 'Mr. Martin' is not at all who or what you thought he was." I said, getting out of the elevator as soon as the doors opened.

I walked faster on purpose, so Bradley would have a hard time following me. I could hear his labored breaths and his heavy footsteps slapping on the tile floor behind me, and I smirked to myself. I guess jogging for track for the whole school year had paid off.

"What are you talking about?" He asked, clearly flustered. I sighed in annoyance. "We'll talk this over during a real breakfast." I said.

"It's a really long story." I said quietly as we walked up to Cierra and Dawn, who had been waiting in the lobby the whole time.

I really wasn't looking forward to reliving my past in that conversation.

Ohh we figure out about Julia's dad in the next chapter aha. Sorry this is short. I'll probably have the next chappie up tomorrow though!
