author's note:

hiya!
sorry it's taken so long, guys. :,) the issue is that i really want to rewrite a big chunk of this now that i've thought it through beginning to end, and i'm struggling on how to do that without going through and completely revamping chapters. i will likely end up having to do this, so if you go back and realize that entire characters and other bits are gone when/if you reread, sorry! when i first started writing this, i just... wasn't as thoughtful about it, but i know where i'm going now. *insert something clever about needing to know where you've been to know where you're going* anyway, enjoy! - lo xx

ps- unless i have abjectly said that this is discontinued, it isn't! :,)

Later that night, they'd ended up getting back up to the things they'd enjoyed when it had just been the two of them in the first place.  Another walk in the park with a mask covering his face and a hood pulled up over his head made him grateful for the fact that the seasons were changing.  He remembered how uncomfortable it had been the last time, the way the sweat had trickled down his brow and built up just above his upper lip when they'd done this in the summer. The salt of it would irritate the staples that held his face together- it made them brittle, too. It hadn't really bothered him too much, though, because she was right there.  She'd held his hand then, and she was holding it again, now, though instead of a tight dress encasing her fetching figure, she wore a pair of black jeans, adorned with holes and a loose black sweatshirt that just covered her bum.  His eyes kept drifting down to watch her expression, the way she proudly kept her fingers entwined with his, chin held high as she touted him about like he wasn't currently one of the most wanted men in the country. Wanted or not, he was hers.

The melted wrought iron fencing was still there, standing entirely unchanged.  Perhaps they both had been thinking the same thing as they stepped over the threshold, tiny smiles pulling at her lips and his, too, behind the thin fabric of his mask.  They'd have to find someplace quiet where there weren't any others around, no children throwing balls or inquisitive dogs that might end up in someone being too curious, coming too close and finding out who the man beneath the hood was.

Touya watched as she peered side to side, her pursed lips sliding over to the left side of her face before a sigh broke forth from her lips. "There's too many people," It came out somewhat growly. It wasn't like her to be frustrated by people, though every now and then, she'd fuss about how busy a street was or how traffic outside of the balcony was just a bit too loud. He stifled back a laugh. "Do we need a new plague?" A grin stretched underneath his mask, pulling the black fabric taut. "No." The little tut that left her was the only indication he'd have before she let go of his hand. She had a wild streak to her, taking one last panoramic view rather frustratedly before she suddenly began to climb a tree.

He reached out for the cuff of her jeans. The tips of his fingers just barely ghosted the rough material before she swung away. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?"  Touya asked, and she simply laughed as she wrapped her arm around a tree limb, wiggling her fingertips against the bark for purchase.  "I'm climbing, what's it look like?"  Her bottom lip tucked between her teeth, an expression of determination painted over her face that he couldn't help but smile just a little bit at.  "It looks like you're gonna fall and bust your ass."  Touya's hands found his pockets as he looked up at her.  She couldn't see the way he was eyeballing the curve of her ass when she was focused on trying to get up higher, the sweatshirt lifting just a bit higher up her back.

"Stop whining, I'm fine!"  With a rather unladylike grunt, she pulled herself just the last bit higher until she was sat up in the branches, legs draped on either side of one that was thick enough to support her weight.  "C'mon, come join me, Tou."  Her (H/C) hair cascaded down her shoulder, swinging out into the leafy space as she tilted her head to the side to look at him.
