As Will walked around the house, eating chips and watching movies, he couldn't help but think this was probably the most relaxed he'd ever been. Then, the doorbell rang, he thought Robin had forgotten her keys, but after grabbing them and peeking through the window, he swore he felt his heart drop.
Mike and Jonathan were at the front door. He quickly shut the blinds, hoping they didn't notice him. It was too late though they had seen him. "Will, we know you're in there. open up." Jonathan tried. They were met with silence, and mike quickly began walking to the back door while Jonathan talked to the door. Thankfully the back door was open, and he quietly proceeded through the hallway.
Trying to be quiet, he moved further when an empty Coca-Cola can hit the living room floor. He curiously walked up to it.
The second Mike looked to the kitchen after hearing shuffling, Will leaped across the counter and dashed into the hallway. Before Mike could chase him, a soda-filled can flew right in his face, causing him to shout in surprise. He followed Will into what appeared to be Robin's room, where he discovered him halfway out of a window with a bag of supplies. "Will!" He yelled. This only seemed to help the boy move faster because he was soon on the ground. Mike slid out of the window, ready to chase.
When they heard Mike yell, Jonathan and the others turned to look to the side of the house as Dustin, Lucas, and Mason leaned against the car, stopping Jonathan in his tracks. When they spotted Mike chasing Will through the woods. They jumped fast and started after him. However, the three were unable to keep up, showing that Will must have improved his stamina during his visits to the Upside Down. Being chased by only Jonathan and Mike by that point, Will was finally caught up by Jonathan, who grabbed him as he struggled to escape.
"Let me go!" he yelled. "No," mike took a few deep breaths. "way."
They were now back inside of Robins house. Windows closed, and Jonathan locking the door.
The silence was more tension filled then awkward, thankfully Mason had excused himself to go home, that didn't change the fact that almost the whole party (plus his brother) had just dragged him back to the house after trying to run away.
"I mean why- why would you even think about running away, Will you know how worried we all were," Jonathan asked, a mix of frustration and confusion. Will shot a pointed glare at Mike, causing everyone to look at him, expecting an explanation.
Mike tried not to panic with all the newfound eyes on him. "We had an argument, but I swear, Will they don't know."
Will looked up at that, the color seemingly returning to his face. He looked around the room, scanning their confused faces. "You don't know?" Dustin and Lucas stared on in confusion. "Know what?" Jonathan finally asked.
Will felt about a million times lighter, still pissed at mike though.
"Look, I know I shouldn't have run away. It doesn't matter. You found me anyway." He said, a hint of irritation in his voice. "Doesn't matter?" Jonathan managed to get out. "Are you going to take me home or not?" He crossed his arms, gaining a stunned reaction from his friends. Jonathan started walking to the car.
"Will you are just- so- grounded, you're grounded." She sighed in frustration. "Whatever." he murmured, walking to his room, ignoring Joyce's voice telling him not to walk away from her.
"What is going on with him?" She asked, glancing down the hallway. "I don't know. maybe it's just puberty." Jonathan tried. "He's been moping around the house for days, maybe something is going on." Jonathan shrugged, glancing at Will's old fridge drawings.
Will sketched whatever he could think of, which was hard because a good portion of the sketches were of mike, he had gotten used to drawing him, making him sigh in frustration.
