Fernando observed as Y/N assured Trent it was just a bad game and he was gonna be fine.

Fernando never really got in trouble, he was considered the starboy of the Padres and even his slumps were considered average. BoMel was content with the way he'd been playing, but for some of the other guys? He really got on them...

Grisham had been having a bad stretch, like awful. He'd been striking out a lot, hitting too many DP balls, and the only thing he'd really been great at lately was bunting, which wasn't the greatest skill to have when your job was to hit home runs and make good plays in CF.

Although, he didn't need it, Fernando did tend to wonder what it was like to be 'consoled' and told it was gonna be alright by Y/N. Just to be there with her and feel that sense of comfort and assurance she radiated.

Since the day she was brought on as an assistant to the bench coach due to other health problems with both Bob Melvin and Ryan Christensin, he'd had all heart eyes for her.

Y/N was pretty, kind, smart, hardworking, and most importantly, she loved the sport and making the players better. She wasn't just there to make some money and hook up. She wanted to work and develop the organization, something she did particularly well when it was her turn to make the lineups and change things around.

Y/N got up from next to an upset Trent and passed by Fernando, making a signal for him to go talk to Trent and give him some advice, he really needed it.

Meanwhile, Manny's eyes were lingering as back and forth from Fernando and Y/N. He snickered, Fernando listened to nobody but Y/N, and it was hilarious to watch him be so quick to obey what she tells him.

It doesn't take a fool for anyone to notice Fernando's everlasting crush on her, but refusal to make a move due to his brand and proffesionalism. Hell, even Melvin noticed how head over heels he was for her. He was always engrossed in her advice, or when she was staring on at some beautiful scenery he was always looking at her.

Manny knew the struggles with trying to get a girl but feeling stuck due to other factors. He had to go through a lot of loops to date his best friends sister... but if he never tried he wouldn't be married or this happy.

Manny's priorities on the field were clear. He needed to hit, make plays, be smart, keep his cool, and win. But off the field?

His job was to make sure Fernando got the girl.

"Oh, hey Manny." Y/N looked up from the paper she was filling out to acknowledge the man who'd just walked into her office.

"Hey," he nodded, "I just wanted to let you know AJ wants to see you in his office. I think it's to discuss roster moves. I don't know." he shrugged nonchalantly.

"Oh, alright." Y/N smiled, "Wait, I thought AJ was in LA for that meeting?"

"No, he's back." Manny stuttered, "He got back a few minutes ago I just saw him."
