+ LFG THE YANKEES BROUGHT BACK T-WADEEEE☆
"Tyler, stop being ridiculous. You're overreacting." I rolled my eyes, hesitating to grab the car keys from off the counter as I looked at my bare ring finger. Seconds later, I realized our rings were being cleaned and it was nothing to be worried about.
As I approached the door, Tyler watched me from the kitchen. I finally turned around as I was walking out to the garage and said, "Are you coming?"
He slowly nodded and followed me outside, as I got into the passenger seat and handed him the keys to drive.
The ride to the school was quiet and uncomfortable. We hadn't fought over something this much since before we'd gotten married.
It all started when Tyler got the call that the Yankees wanted him back.
New York was his dream team, but I was worried that it would be a bad environment to raise our son in considering the Yankees were only gonna use him for depth and he'd probably be jumping around in the minor leagues just to finally get pulled up for a week then sent back down.
Tyler argued that it was no different than the major leagues, and although he'd be in different places, we could live in New York and he could just come see us when he can.
I didn't like the idea of that.
Once we pulled up to the school, Tyler silently got out of the car and slammed the door shut, without even looking at me.
I rolled my eyes as I watched him walk up to the gate and wait. He'd always been a drama king after we fought. Moments later, I got out of the car and went to sit on a nearby bench.
The gate started to crowd more, and I noticed Tyler starting to nervously tap his foot as he talked to some nearby women.
I thought nothing of it at first, until another mom came and sat down next to me. Her name was Ruth, and I'd never really interacted with her besides at class parties.
"Hi," she grinned, almost so big it could've been fake.
"Hello," I replied, putting my phone away and glancing at Tyler, who was still nervously chatting with a bunch of moms.
"So, um, I don't know if this is my place to ask," she started, as I looked at her urgently, wanting her to continue, "But are you and Tyler, like— okay?" she wondered.
"Uhhh, what do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean well, don't get mad at me but it's just either of you are wearing your rings and aren't talking and—"
"We're fine," I assured.
"You should probably go get him then," she declared, as both of our eyes found Tyler uncomfortably laughing at something the other moms said.
"Um, okay..." I agreed, still not quite catching onto the fact that all those women were trying to flirt with him.
I awkwardly grabbed my purse and got up, walking towards Tyler. Once his eyes met mine I saw what I thought was the hugest grin I've ever seen from him.
Once I got close enough, he wrapped an arm around me as we stood around the other moms.
"Oh hi!" one of them exclaimed, as I felt rude glares from the group. I still hadn't processed what was going on as myself and Tyler had been really pissed off with each other as of 8 minutes ago, but now his arm was around me and a bunch of moms were shooting me rude looks.
"Hi!" I smiled, trying to sound friendly but still managing to sound unsure.
"We'll be right back," Tyler smiled, grabbing my hand and leading me away from the group, standing behind a shaded wall as he started to explain, "They think we're divorced."
"What?" I asked, opening my mouth to say something as Tyler interrupted me.
"Are we okay?" he asked, his hat shading his worried eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"Are we okay, Sasha? Like we're done fighting?"
"Yeah I guess..." I trailed. I felt rather slow at the moment pertaining processing everything that was happening.
"Good," he smirked, glancing at the group of parents we were just with, then placing a kiss on my lips, "Let's go get Gavin."
I nodded, as he once again took my hand and led me to the gate, where children were already flooding out of.
Our son found our figures as he ran to us, Tyler scooping him up into his arms as I planted a kiss on the side of his face.
"Let's get out of here," Tyler motioned, as we went back towards the car, rushing past the group we were just with.
☆
"Are we okay?"
"We're fine, Tyler," I laughed.
"No I'm serious, Sash," he started, "Are we good, with New York, and everything?"
I sighed, putting down the knife that I was cutting vegetables with as he looked at me from the stove.
"I don't know."
"It's gonna be hard but it's gonna be like the majors. As soon as we get settled it'll be normal, everything's gonna be fine." he assured, taking my hands which now had my wedding rings on them.
As he stared at me passionately, I breathed out a laugh and looked down, thinking about what he just said.
"We'll do this together," he added, squeezing my hands.
"Gav and I will follow your lead," I finally agreed, kissing his cheek as he smiled gratefully.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
↳ "are we ok?"
