A few minutes' later camera vans began pulling up trying to get a glimpse of me leaving jail. Trent pulled back and smiled up at me.
"We should get going we have much to discuss," my lawyer informed me.
I nodded and put Trent down grabbing his hand leading him to Jayden's car that Tatiana was currently standing at until she caught sight of me and raced towards me pulling me into a tight hug.
"My best friend the jail bird," she laughed while looking me over.
Jayden pulled his wife away from me hugging her from behind, "C'mon we better go," he said kissing her cheek lovingly while she smiled up at him.
Tatiana and my brother had the perfect relationship they loved each other fully and trusted each other, I wanted that, but no time to dwell I need to focus on keeping the little boy currently pulling on my arm.
"Ok, Trent, I'm coming," I giggled letting him pull me to the car.
Once we were all in the car, me in the back with Trent and the two lovebirds up front we pulled away from the station heading for my mother's penthouse apartment, located deep in the Upper East Side.
"Uncle Jake is here," Trent yelled in excitement racing out the car towards the elevator in his haste to get to his Uncle.
We followed behind at a slower pace laughing as his face was lit up with excitement, I wanted to keep my little boy like that excited over the smallest things it meant he was happy, all I wanted is for him to be happy.
Entering the elevator Trent quickly pushed the button for the top floor.
"Sweetie, he'll still be there when we get up," I exclaimed.
He started bouncing up and down in excitement, "I know but I can't wait to see him and tell him about all the cops I seen arresting all the big bad guys."
"Wow, that's awesome, little man, how many did you see?" Tatiana asked while bending down to Trent's level.
I noticed my brother smiling down at his wife interacting with my son and smiled, "She's going to be a great mother," I told him.
"Yeah," he sighed wistfully.
I know my brother wants kids but Tatiana is focusing on her career right now, that's why he spends so much time with Trent, so he can stop pressuring her, "You know Trent loves you and looks up to you," I tried to comfort him.
"Yeah but at the end of the day he's yours and Charles son," he admitted.
I frowned, "That doesn't mean you can't still see him and play with him."
"Thanks, Sis. That means a lot," he hugged me to his side.
I grinned up at him, "Anytime, big brother."
The rest of the elevator ride was spent in silence apart from Trent telling Tatiana all about the big bad villains he seen.
The doors pinged open announcing our presence, which was quickly followed by my mother rushing into the room.
"Bella, your ok?" she screamed running up and hugging me.
I hugged her back, "Yeah, mum. I'm fine." I told her stepping out of her hug.
"Grandma, Grandma. Guess what, I seen big bad guys." Trent shouted in excitement interrupting my mum from saying anything else to me.
From the other room came the unmistakable voice of Jake, "What's this I hear about big bad guys?" he asked coming into the entrance hall.
"You should have seen them they were huge and ugly," Trent began explaining.
Jake smiled down at him before walking over to me and pulling me into a hug, "I'm glad your ok, Bella. We were all worried about you."
"Thanks, Jake. Shouldn't you be with your family?" I wondered, standing back.
Jake smiled, "Anna took the kids up to visit her parents but she will be back down for tomorrow, she wants to be there to show her support." He explained.
"Tell her thank you but she doesn't need to do that," I told him.
He shrugged, "She wants to and she hasn't seen you in years."
"Thank you so much for your support. Where's Liam?" I asked looking around for him.
He picked up Trent throwing him over his shoulder and said, "He had to go back to work but he'll be here later," and with that he took a giggling Trent back through to the lounge.
The elevator doors pinged announcing an arrival, as the doors opened my lawyer stepped out and approached me.
"Ready, to go over our game plan for tomorrow?" he asked smiling politely.
I figured might as well get it over with, "Sure, after you," I said motioning him to go first.
We sat down at the dining room table and he got out his notepad with a couple of other papers arranging them before looking up at me ready to start.
"So, we have the character references sorted." He stated.
I was confused, "Who's my character references?" I asked the confusion must have shown in my face as he chuckled.
"Oh, sorry. We sorted this out last night Jake and Jayden are going to be your character references. Jake as he is an upstanding member of the community and an important member to New York society. Jayden because he is the closest to you and a family member." The lawyer explained.
I guess I couldn't ask for any better, "Who are Charles?" I wondered aloud.
"His mother and his sister." The lawyer said grimacing.
That's not very good I don't think so I asked, "Two family members that can't be very good?"
"No its not but nobody else is close enough to testify for his ability as a father," the lawyer informed me.
"Couldn't he find someone else?" I enquired.
The lawyer looked at me weirdly, "The only other person he could ask is you and that's not going to work." Now I understand the weird look.
"Ok, anything else?" I asked finally.
The lawyer put down his pen and stared at me showing me this was serious, "Your arrest will play a major part in their argument since they have nothing else to go on. So, we need to come up with an offence for that."
Great, I'm screwed their lawyers are going to chew me up and spit me out childless.
