I had been on a trip with my family fora couple of weeks now Nd I was missing my boyfriend terribly. I had been dating my boyfriend for three years now and I loved him more than anything. So I came home earlt to surprise him.
I walked up the staurs to our apartment and opened the door. The house was quiet except for some rustling coming from our bedroom. I didn't think anything about it and assumed maybe he was just waking uo or something.
I opened the door to our bedroom. "Hey babe, I-"
Nothing in my life could've prepared me for what I saw. My boyfriend was in our bed with another girl. They both looked up and saw me.
My boyfriend's eyes were wide. "Babe, I-"
He mumbled something under his breath I couldn't hear. The girl's eyes were wide as well. I was the first to speak.
"What the h-" My words got stuck in my throat.
"Babe, I can explain." My boyfriend hopped out of bed. "We've been-"
"Th-There is no excuse for this." I said. I was shaking and my body felt weak. This was the last thing I expected to happen. I tried to keep my voice even.
"Babe please, it was a long trip." My boyfriend grabbed my arm.
I pulled it away. "No. It is not okay." I knew I needed to be strong. I didn't want to show him how much this hurt me.
"Please babe, I'm sorry. We were having a rough day." My boyfriend wrapped his arms around me and tried to comfort me.
I could feel his tears on my shoulder. "I love you so much. I just wanted us to be happy." My boyfriend kissed my hair. "I want to be with you forever. I just... I just..."
My gently pished him away. "I nerd space. And time."
I turned on my heels and out if the apartment. I got back into my car and drove to my best friend's place. I knocked on the door and waited for him.
I heard the sound of the door unlocking. The smile that had ben on AJ's face when he opened the door faded when he saw the tear stains on my face.
"(Y/N), what's wrong?" He asked, ushering me inside. "Why are you crying?"
I reached up and wiped some of the tears away. "My boyfriend cheated on me." I choked out.
"What!?" AJ was visibly shocked. I could see the rage growing in his eyes. "How could he do this?" He reached out and pulled me into a hug.
I laid my head on his shoulder. "I left before letting him explain. He tried to fix things." I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. I was still shaking, but I had to get it together. "I don't get it."
"Get what?" AJ looked down at me.
"Why no one can actually love me." I replied. "None of my relationships work for one reason or another. Am I the problem?"
AJ closed his eyes and shook his head. "No, you're not the problem. I like you. I always have. You know I wouldn't hurt you, right?"
I looked up to meet his eyes. I wanted to say it back. That I liked him, no, that I loved him. But...like. That word. He doesn't mean it like I do. "That's why your my best friend."
AJ smiled and pulled me into another hug. I accept it but oushed all of my thoughts of us, all the feelings away. I just need to forget about them.
