Marnie

"Hi I'm here for the job." The receptionist glanced at me through her glasses and shifted to her computer

"Name?"

"Marnie Cooper."

"Ah yes," she said after a few moments, "the girl who never showed up." Rude much? After some clicking of her mouse she stood up.

"Well at least until now." She looked me up and down. Turning she started walking the sound of her heels echoing. I followed her to the elevator to the 15th floor, the highest in the building.

She led me to a room with a few chairs situated in front of a door.

"Mrs. K will be with you shortly." The receptionist left abruptly with one last look of disapproval.

I sat in the chair for what felt like ages. Im pretty sure I took a nap because I woke up to the sound of the door closing and I opened my eyes to see a guy standing there with a pile of clothes in his arms.

"Need some help?" I said sitting up straighter in front of the stranger.

"That would be greatly appreciated." He said smiling with perfectly straight pearly whites.

I grabbed some clothes from the stack. He began walking and motioned for me to follow him. We walked down a hallway, into a room of tables with sewing machines and scissors and all types of fabric.

"What this place?" I asked. While setting down the clothes he said, "This is sort of Mrs. K's work space." He turned to me and I got a good look at him.

Dark brown hair (very luscious too), with hazel brown eyes and a light blue sweater that outlined his pecks.

"Damn." I whispered. His smile got larger.

"You're not so bad yourself." He said and I smiled back.

"Luke!" A women screamed his name.

"Crap." He muttered. "I better get going." Luke left the room in a hurry.

I stayed though I knew I should be meeting my boss. Catching up on everything I missed. Seeing if I was going to get fired.

Walking between the tables I felt the different fabrics: silk, satin, chiffon, denim.

I thought of all the different items of clothing I could make and all the designs I could use.

Closing my eyes I was lost in thought until someone opened the door and said, "Uh, Marnie Cooper?"
