Marnie
I sat down on the bench to get a drink of water from the bottle strapped around my waist.
This was my routinely jog and I hadn't done it in a while so why not start now.
Standing back up I made my way to the park. There weren't many people there but a few people walking there dogs and jogging too.
"I didn't think I'd see you here." I turned around to see Jack. Why did he have to be here?! Not that I didn't want him to be.
"Yea I come here often, I guess." I started blushing. Marnie you're not suppose to act like this. I turned again noticing he was behind and a bit slower than me.
"Getting tired?" I asked smiling that he was running slower than a girl.
He chuckled slightly. "No."
"Then catch up slow poke." I started to tease him.
I turned around seeing he wasn't there. I looked infront of me and saw he was ahead of me.
I caught up to him and beat him winning the unintentional race that ended infront of the ice cream parlor.
"Ice cream?" He pointed to the shop.
"Sure." Panting we walked inside.
Standing infront of the glass window below me were like a million different flavors. I couldn't decide between mint chocolate chip or cookie dough.
"Just get both." Jack warm breath brushed my ear. My face reddend.
"What can I get for you sir?" The girl behind the counter batted her eyes lashes at him. I got really jealous. I wanted to go up to her and say he's mine but he wasnt.
"I'll get a chocolate and Reese's with Oreos on top please."
"Ok." She left and came back with the ice cream totally ignoring me.
The girl ,who I now identified as Lauren from her name tag, and Jack started flirting with eachother. What the heck?
I cleared my throat trying to get their attention. Both turned at the same time with a confused look.
"I'd like a mint chocolate chip with cookie dough, please." I glared at them.
Lauren left and brought back my ice cream. Reaching over the counter to grab it from her, she tilted it and 'accidentally' spilled it on me.
I looked at my now ice cream shirt and my face was now red from anger and embarrass meant. Jack got some napkins and tried to clean up my shirt but I swatted his hands away and stomped my way out of the shop.
"Marnie wait," I could hear Jack behind me.
"Why are you so mad?" He grabbed my shoulder and spun me around to face him.
"You completely ignored me and started flirting with that girl."
"Your not my girlfriend, so why should you care?" After those words came out I could tell he regretted them instantly. But it was too late.
"Your right. I shouldn't care." I backed out of his hold. "So now I don't"
"Marnie, wait."
I ignored him and kept walking.
