April was woken up by the sound of her phone vibrating against the nightstand. The woman was confused at the early call when she saw the numbers on her phone reading four am. She turned to face the man who was fast asleep next to her. Ramee must have had trouble sleeping during the night because the normally vigilant man was not shaken by the ringing phone. With that in mind she got out of bed with her phone in hand, opened the sliding doors and sat on one of the chairs on their balcony.
"Hey Gunner it's your girl April. Why are you calling so early?" She pulled the black shirt she'd borrowed from Ramee's closet lower. The siren caught a glimpse of some workers lazily meandering around and she was not interested in flashing them.
"Hey April, it's your man— because I'm a man and not a boy— Gunner." The cop said in his slightly raspy deep voice. She couldn't tell if the man had just woken up or if he was turning up the seductive voice for her. It was one of his hobbies. Gunner loved flirting with April and she occasionally allowed it because his voice sounded attractive. April was not one to entertain the poor but the police officer was handsome even despite his hair cut and the eyepatch.
"Can I jerk off to pictures of you?"
"Gunner- what?" She sighed as she facepalmed. This was what she got for answering such an early call from Gunner."Everyone else does it. I'm just asking for permission."
"Gunner I get it. You're madly in love with me but this is low. Even for the likes of you.""Not everyone is in love with you April."
"There's two types of people in this world Gunner; those who love me and those who haven't yet accepted that they love me." The woman believed that most people were in love with her. The rest, like her family and friends simply loved her. It might have sounded shallow but she's never had anyone prove her wrong."Can I jerk off to your pictures or not?" April rolled her eyes at the forward request. Gunner was disgusting but at least he was honest. His unfiltered comments were partially the reason why she talked to him.
"Sure Gunner do whatever you want." She couldn't have been bothered. The blond often said outlandish things to get a response. This was no different. The two went on to talk about delivering more med kits to her when she returned from her vacation.
"You don't even work. Why are you on vacation?"
"I find it more enjoyable this way. I get to enjoy my trips a lot more without the stress of a job holding me down. It's called not being poor. Have you ever considered not being poor Gunner?""I'm not poor!" He sounded genuinely offended at the notion that he, an occasional law abiding government employee was not rich.
"Well if you're not poor then send me ten thousand dollars." She smirked madly at his lack of response. He was dumbfounded by her audacity. This was a large part of the fun that came with having men pay her bills. The game she played before they agreed to give her money. It was exhilarating.
"I'll send five."
"You're so cheap."
"Seven."
"Thanks Gunner." She thanked in a sing song voice. The two ended their conversation once he sent her the money.April decided to stay out on the balcony and catch up on texts she might have missed while collecting some money. The woman often joked that Ramee was in love with her but she didn't know his feelings for sure. She didn't know if she was ready to explore her own feelings for him either. Which was why she needed to ensure she still had sources of income that weren't solely reliant on Ramee's state id.
"Hey Eric, it's your girl April."
"Hey April. You're up early."
"Well today I woke up and I realized how much I missed my favorite sugar daddy. It's been a while since we spoke and I wanted to call you." She called everyone her favorite sugar daddy. They often gave her money whenever they thought they were special to her.
