Prelude I

After the study session, I noticed I had received a text message from Sakayanagi requesting that I  call her when I was free.

Hmm? Perhaps it's about what Mashima-sensei told her after school? I mean, she wasn't on the (cruise) ship in the series... So their talk might be related to that.

"Sakayanagi-chan?" What's up?"

"I won't be able to join the class on the cruise trip."

"Huh? Why?"

"Apparently there will be a physically intense activity going on on the cruise, so the Mashima-sensei advised that I should refrain from going onto the cruise."

"They said 'refrain', does that mean that you intend to go?"

"While I can choose to go, I am going follow the Mashima-sensei's instructions, it is a personal matter."

Probably her dad huh...

"Okay, so you won't be going. Do you reckon that the exam will be carried out on the cruise?"

"Yes, so I would like you to keep a close watch on Katsuragi while I am away. Whilst Hashimoto will be in charge, I would like you to assist him."

"Capsice."

"Any questions?"

"You will be issuing orders to Hashimoto-Kun, right?"

"Yes, what of it?"

"Well, I was just wondering... It's a hypothetical question but; Let's say your plans for the near future will result in a disadvantage for the long run. What would you do?"

"It would depend on how serious the disadvantage is, I suppose. If it is something minor then I would still carry out the initial plan. However if the negative impacts of the initial plan really is detrimental in the long run, I will draft out another plan."

"What if you couldn't change it (the plan used)?"

"Then I would just take action to reduce the effects."

Hmm? Surprisingly the answer she gave me isn't very big brain or anything like that. It's very realistic and practical. It's similar to how I would respond if I were ever in a similar situation. It seems like we're on the same wavelength.

"Sakayanagi. During this upcoming test, just use the plan that you want use according to whatever Hashimoto reports to you. Don't mind me, I'll make sure Class A attains the best possible result."

"...I'll be looking forward to it."

I snapped out of it.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry, Sakayanagi-chan, I didn't mean to use that tone on you!"

"Well, I was rather surprised. But other than that, it's alright.

Although I am slightly curious as to what you are thinking."

I could see her slight, haughty smile in my mind as she said these lines.

I'd be damned if she ever knew about my past life.

Now that the preparations are complete, let the show begin.
