Author's pov

Pete's tears wouldn't stop falling. He wipes his eyes and new set of tear drops start falling again wetting his rosy cheeks. Vegas's words wounded his heart to a great extent. He just wanted to console the other. He knows what it is like to grow up without parents. He doesn't even know about any other family member except for his parents.

"Pete ? Where are the photos?" Mei asked when she saw him coming in the living room.

"Oh uh Mr. V-vegas said he would bring them" Pete replied meekly.

"Okay. For now you don't have any task so just sit somewhere. I'll go now" Mei said and hurried to instruct the other servants.

Pete decided to stand in a corner and watch everyone. There was already a monk present. He was leading the ceremony while reading sermons and lead chants.

Vegas walked into the room with the photos. His eyes instantly fell on Pete who was watching everything from a corner. Pete looked his way all of a sudden and lowered his head when they made eye contact.

A side of Vegas wanted to check on the smaller male but his anger refrained himself from doing so. He put the photos on a table that was heavily decorated with flowers and put garlands of flowers around the photo frames.

The monk told him to sit and follow his guidance. His little brother and other family members were also there.

It was at the end of the ceremony when, "What are you doing here standing all alone in a corner?" Porsche asked coming beside Pete.

"Nothing, this just reminded me of something" Pete answered solemnly.

"Do you miss your parents?" Porsche asked abruptly.

"Not as bad as before. It was hard when I was younger but as I got older, I realised that in this world we come alone and we have to go alone" Pete said with a sad smile.

"I used to visit their tombstone every year or whenever I felt like I couldn't keep up with life. But now..." Pete's voice trailed off. He wiped a stray tear from his left cheek. Porsche rubbed his shoulder to comfort his friend.

"You know....my parents also died when I was younger. I was left alone with my brother. It was complicated for us to survive"

"That's why you became a bodyguard for this family" Pete completed the older's sentence.

Porsche smiled and ruffled his hair.
"Yes, you catch on pretty quickly huh ?"

Pete smiled half heartedly. But then Porsche turned him around slightly.

"Oi what's wrong with your back ? Why is there a blood stain ? And your shirt has a hole in it" His voice was laced with worry .

"I am c-clumsy, must've bumped into something" Pete tried to reason.

"Uh hu go straight to our room, take out the medical kit and treat this . I have one more duty or I would've done it for you. God! You make me so concerned" Porsche scolded like a mother hen. Pete chuckled guiltily. He couldn't fathom why his back was hurting all this time. He absolutely forgot about the accident that happened before.

"Okay mother" Pete said cheekily trying to make Porsche feel better.

"Yeah go now" The older pressured. When Pete was gone Porsche sighed shaking his head. He looked ahead and surprisingly enough Vegas was standing there.

"Mr. Vegas....can I help you with anything?" Porsche questioned.

"We need to talk"
