The protection of God, is like a soldier clothed in amour, which serve as protection during a time of war. The war that we are fighting is, not physical nor in the natural realm, nor in this world. Rather the war we are fighting is spiritual and in the spiritual realm, which manifests in this world we are living in, in the natural. We do not choose nor do we control what happens to us, but how we react to it, is within our abilities. Though we do have to learn, practice and strengthen these abilities, to effectively exercise how we deal with situations that crosses our paths.
The victory is not ours when the battle has been won.
It is solely to exalt and honor God, for His glory. When two countries go into battle and the war is won, the soldiers who fought during the battle, is seldomly recognized or known for their sacrifice. The army in which they served is known, but the individuals who formed that army is mostly not known to society at large. The acknowledgement of victory is bestowed upon the ruler of that country. He is the one that receives the glory and honor, when the victorious result are mentioned and it follows all through the pages of history, like Alexander the great.
As we clothe ourselves with the amour of God, we are in His army now. It is therefore fitting that the honor goes to God. We serve under His protection and provision to His glory.
To clothe ourselves with the helmet of salvation, we are learning how to operate in spiritual battle with our mind and thoughts. We practice our thinking abilities until it reaches maturity, then once developed we are able to use it during spiritual battle in this world. Our minds are constantly plagued with thoughts which come and go and sometimes comes back. After practicing and exercising diligently and constantly choosing what we accept to think about and what to reject, we will be in a much better position to withstand seeds sown by the enemy within our minds.
The seeds that we water, being by meditating on it, will grow into our hearts and eventually we and those around us will eat its fruits as it manifests in the natural.
We are in a world filled with darkness and wickedness and need to be saved by light and holiness. We are constantly tormented with words and thoughts of condemnation and walls of prejudice surrounds us. The Word is full of promises to us personally and gives light, shining into darkness which brings life. For too long we have believed the lie that God waits for us to make mistakes so He can punish us, this is the opposite of the truth. For the price of our salvation has been paid in full.
It is within our means and we are very able to personalize every word written by God to us and meditate on it. When we fill our minds with the promises in the Word, meditate on it, confess it, there will not be space for the enemy's lies. Being full of God's promises will make it most difficult for anything else to penetrate our minds and exposes lies that tries to enter.
This is practically clothing ourselves with the helmet of salvation.
What we think and what is cemented in our thoughts, influences who we believe we are, which in turn influences how we act and interact. We in our own power and in flesh is far from being righteous. However, we have confessed our sins an accepted Jesus as Lord in our lives, we are reminded in our hearts by faith, that we are clothed by His righteousness. The precious blood of Jesus cleanses us from all inequity and unrighteousness. By accepting the truth that there is wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb that was slain for our sins, we put on the breastplate of righteousness. We are acutely aware that the Lord sent the Holy Spirit to us, who continuously washes us clean with living waters. The weapons formed against us, to attempt making us feel dirty, thus has no hold on us. For when the deception tries to launch an attack, we confess the righteousness of the Lord which is now made our own.
