CHAPTER 9

A Father

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ♡︎♡︎♡︎
AKAZAWA EIZAN was a man of little words with big impacts, always noticing the small details in life and remembering it with his heart. At the raw age of twenty-seven, he neither has a partner nor children to keep his life colourful. He was mostly alone and he had already accepted that fate the moment he became a high school teacher with little to no friends and a very private life.

Until he met The Perfect Devil.

When he first met him, he was no more than six years old, with eyes so bright and filled with curiosity for everything, hair looking like it was licked by a cow with how flat it looked from his mother constantly smoothing it down. Everyone could say that he looked so adorable when he was a child, but what accompanied his cute looks were talents and skills none of the peers his age could do. At six, he could already solve college level mathematical problems, could read, write, and speak in six different languages, and was interested in constellations. Akazawa could argue with anyone that he was a born genius, soon sculpted to perfection by his mother, and he knows he'd win with ease.

Although Akazawa didn't get to watch him on a more personal level, he was well aware of how he's been fairing based on all the news about him. During the day, he'd get to watch him competing in competitions far too difficult for his age, and at night he'd be able to see his interviews after his wins, either with his mother or alone.

But after meeting him for the second time, he figured that it wouldn't harm the both of them if he got to learn more about the young ace. More often than he'd admit, Akazawa would visit the boy whenever he was staying with his grandfather, and during those little visits, he'd teach him how to cook and bake simple things to either keep him busy or just to pass down things he learned from his own father.

Just seeing the kid enjoy himself and not being forced to do anything he was far too young to do made Akazawa's heart swell, he could never really admit it but he saw him as his son — he saw him as a child he wanted to protect, to care for, and to love — but his mother was a vicious viper that had wrapped herself too tightly around her son, preventing anyone from giving him the things he deserved and the more she tightened her grip around him, the more she hurt him.
