CHAPTER 10

Seeing Through His Eyes

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ♡︎♡︎♡︎
FEAR HAS ALWAYS been a prominent emotion in [M.Name]'s life. Fear of reliving the times when he was under his mother, all the blood he had shed and the tears that fell from his once twinkling [e/c] eyes. Fear of having people look at him as if he was some kind of freak on display, for them to criticize him, only see his worth by his talents and skills and not as him, not as a person. Fear of people finding him in a state where he was not in his very best, to catch him with bloodied hands, tear stained cheeks, and being in the wrong.

He has always been afraid — what was there more to feel when that was the emotion his own mother has put on him at the raw age of two?

Happiness? Oh, that was taken away from him the moment he learnt how to read. Anger? His claws were cut and his sharp, jagged teeth were ripped out. Sadness? There was no time to feel such thing, there is only fear.

Every night, the perfect boy would sit on his bed, thinking about and grieving for his childhood, and a soulless tear would fall from his eye. The walls of his room holds so many stories about him that if they were to be human, they could only pity him and watch as his perfect little masterpiece of a facade would fall, crumbling to his feet and he'd kneel over the broken shards of himself. And by the time morning comes, a new mask would form, as if it wouldn't just dust away like the rest.

[M.Name] is polite.

He is kind.

He is talented.

And, above all, he is perfect.

---

The perfect little boy had a tight-lipped smile as he bowed to all the guests his mother had invited, making sure no semblance of irritation or exhaustion was evident as he moved swiftly through the crowd and stood upon the stage built specifically for him to stand on in his mother's manor. In a blink of an eye, the spotlights were on him, the lights on the other side of the room had significantly dimmed, making his presence known to everyone. In his hand was the flute gifted to him by his mother's friend, ready for him to use and have everyone once again fawn over him for his talent.
