"T-thanks for driving me," I said, blushing at my new found realization.
"No problem!" Dom said, smiling.
"I'll see you later, then" I replied, my face growing redder by the minute.
"Cygnus!" My brother yelled from the living room. "Is that you?"
"Yeah!" I called back
"Oh hello, dear." My mom said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Hey, Mom."
"Make any new friends?"
"Yeah."
"Wonderful. What's their name?"
"Arin." I replied
"That's a nice name." My mother said
"Yeah. I'm going to head upstairs until dinner."
"Okay dear."

I can't stop thinking about Dom. He's all that's on my mind lately.

Flashback
"Hurry up, Cyg!" Rivalen shouted from the top of the hill.
I laughed as I said, "I'm almost there, Riv, calm down."
"Well you're not going fast enough" he teased.
Right before I reached the top of the hill I stumbled. Riv was right there and caught my hands. He pulled me up next to him and kissed my forehead.
"You okay?"
"Yeah."
We walked over to a flat spot where I saw a beautiful picnic with all of my favorite things, including chocolate covered strawberries and yogurt covered raisins, set up.
"Riv, did you do this?" I said, my voice breathy with shock.
"Happy 1 year anniversary, C.J."
I smiled as I buried my face into Rivalen's neck
"Happy anniversary, Riv."

Present day
My family was sitting at the dinner table when my father gave us the news.
"Your mother and I will be leaving for a three week trip this weekend. You three will have the house to yourself. I trust you can make smart decisions while we're gone. Cipher, no parties. Camille and Cygnus will hold you accountable to that. Got it?"
All three of us responded at the same time.
"Yes, Dad."
"Good."
The rest of the meal we just discussed the normal things like how our day went and if we made any friends.

I climbed into the front seat of Dom's car the next morning.
"Hey, C.J." Dom said
"Hey man." I replied
"I heard that Rivalen is in your homeroom. How's that?"
"I mean he ignored me yesterday so fingers crossed he does the same today. Anyways, who's in your homeroom? Anyone of interest?"
"No one in particular. Well maybe Ayesha Carleton. You know, the girl who asked me out in seventh grade?"
"Wait, really? I thought she moved to Maine."
"She did, but she moved back because her mom got a job here."
"Who wants a job in Accident, Maryland?"
Dom laughed while he said "I honestly have no idea."
We talked about the most random things the whole way to school, with the occasional comfortable silence. During one such silence I caught Dom glancing at me out of the corner of his eye. He blushed when he realized I'd seen him.
