Chapter 30.
Butterflies came at my stomach in large waves, as I stared out into the dark sky. Wherever we had landed was quiet, as if it was hardly used. Perhaps this was like the private jet we were in, it could be a private airport. It was the only thing that made sense at the moment, and I figured I might as well believe it.
Sage was the first to get up, screeched like a little girl about finally seeing her older brother again. I figured she must have been looking for me for a long time, or too busy to ever visit him. I watched as she ran out of the plane like her butt was on fire, her voice echoing into the open door.
The minute the door was opened, I was blasted with cold air, a temperature I was far from being comfortable with. A shiver ran up my spine, and the hairs on my arms stood up. I was instantly cold, but everyone didn't seem to mind as much besides Oliver, Kory, and Lilura. My best guess was they never left Bermuda before.
Being in shorts and tank tops, I expected Sage to be freezing while she ran down the dark staircase. We all watched her as she screamed, her hands tossing up in the air as she spun around. Trixie and Jeremy shrugged, as if the behavior was expected from her, and once we realized this was her personality showing we all descended the stairs.
Lucian and I were the last to the doorway, my feet preventing me from going anywhere. My grip on his bicep tightened as I stared at the flooring that would guide me to my home. This would be the first time stepping into a place I was completely unfamiliar with. What if the ground was different? What if the plants and animals were different here?
"Are you ready?" Lucian asked me, his hands rubbing my shoulder affectionately.
"I'm not sure just yet." I stated honestly, feeling the wind nip at my bare arms and legs. It was freezing.
Noticing my shivering body, Lucian reached towards the closet behind us and pulled out a sweater. Wrapping the knit cardigan around me, I crossed my arms over my chest. Lucian rested his hand on the small of my back while he guided me down the staircase.
I only took three steps before I stopped to look around the area, my breath hitching as I looked up at the sky. Lucian stopped too, noticing what was occurring above us and watched with a smile on his face. We could hear Oliver and Kory screaming at it, and hollering at its beauty. Savannah and Jackie were yelling with joy and happiness at the welcome home party above us.
My eyes flickered to Lucian's vibrant eyes, the ones I had slowly started to love. The reflection of the lights and colors were coming off of his orbs, as was everyone else. It was amazing, watching the scene play out in his eyes and watching it for myself. This was just so...beautiful.
After staring at Lucian and directing my eyes to the sky, I finally spoke up. "What are they? What is this?"
"The aurora borealis." He breathed, letting out a soft sigh. "It's beautiful isn't it?"
"It's so...colorful." I watched as the color changed from pink to a light yellow and later to a green. It was something I knew had never happened in Bermuda.
"Who doesn't love the Northern Lights?" Sage screamed, twirling around as she bent down to pick something up.
I was too in a trance at the lights above, that I didn't know what was flying at me until it hit me square in the chest. The minute it did, I let out an ear piercing shriek as I was wrapped with a burst of cold. Whatever content it was, had managed to slip down my chest and rest on my breasts. My heated skin managed to melt it, and I was not covered in water.
