Chapter 2.

My chest heaved up and down as I fought to control my breathing. It was dark in the room as I opened them, sweat dripping down my forehead and onto my pillow. The dream seemed too real so—lifelike. The blankets that had covered my bare chest were down to my hips allowing the slight glow of the moon to shine off of it.

“Clay?” I jumped when a small cold hand touched my shoulder, and I looked over at the voice. “Are you okay?”

I nodded. “I’m fine, go back to sleep.”

“Alright.” London mumbled, before cuddling close to me. Soon her cute snores were heard as well as her deep breathing, signaling she was sound asleep.

How could my sister be alive? I saw the body right in front of my ten year old eyes, she has been dead for more than seven years. Who is cruel enough to keep her held up in that place for almost eighteen years? She must be suffering, and it’s my fault I never looked to find out more.

Feeling determined, I looked back over at my mate and stood up. This game the witch was playing was going to end, because I will get my sister back before I become Alpha. I want her to be there, or else I will not take the position. If it’s a game Ayana wants, then a game is exactly what she’s going to get.

“Hold on.” She snapped, holding her hand up and blocking me off from continuing. Her eyes held an almost hopeful shine in them, but I could tell she was trying to put all the pieces together. “That’s not even possible.”

“It is.” I pressed, placing my elbows on my knees and resting on my hands. “It sounds impossible but if it’s happening then it could be true.”

“The key word being ‘could’, Clayton!” If I wasn’t at a higher rank than her, her voice would have caused me to flinch. “My niece could be alive.”

“The dream couldn’t be just a dream, I felt the witch touch me.” I explained, trying to break down her stubborn wall.

“I don’t believe it.” Auntie Sage denied, crossing her arms with a thoughtful look on her face.

We were seated in my father’s office, built with soundproof walls so no one could hear our discussion. He went on patrol with my Uncle Philip, or his Third in Command, and I managed to sneak in here when he left. Not long after did Sage receive my mind link, and came bolting in here. Obviously she wanted some alone time since she just got home yesterday. However, this couldn’t wait.

“What do you expect me to do?” She quizzed and scrunched her eyebrows in confusion.

“You’re the only person my father still trusts a hundred percent of the time. He won’t suspect anything if you ask to travel somewhere else.”

“Where would I possibly be going?”

“I’ve been putting the pieces together.” I told her, pulling out notecard froms my pocket. “My dad said before Ayana took Penelope she gave a hint almost like a code.”

“Yes, Cooper told me she had said ‘Good luck finding her where the darkest place is where the sun shines brightly.’ What does that have to do with Penelope being alive?”

“It doesn’t.” I rushed out. “It tells us where she can be found.”

I put the cards on the coffee table in front of her, and she memorized each and every word on there. “Edge, fish, light—Clayton what is this?”

“I took the first letters and the last letters of each word and scrambled them together on a word forming site.” I showed her the letters on the quote with the ones matching the letters and words. “They form almost sentences, but they still give a good idea of where Penelope is.”
