Chapter 16.

Her POV

One Month Ago

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been in this room. I have no memories of my past, that is, if I even had one. It’s not like I know much, since I’ve been isolated from the entire world my whole life. I mean, I don’t even know how long I’ve been on this Earth. However, I do know things.

It started when I was really young, but I don’t know exactly how age works. One moment I was getting ready to sleep, and the next I was sucked into some dreamland. Everything was beautiful. There were colors, trees, and animals scattered across the entire place. Before I knew what I was doing, I was moving on my own. I could taste something in my mouth, but it wasn’t like the small tasteless rations I would get three times a day. It was different.

That was when I saw something moving, and it came up to me. Its teeth were showing and I immediately stepped back. It was short, and stood on two…things. Another color, much like the ground was on top of it and was flowing in the strange gust that was hurting my skin. I was frightened, and instantly turned away until it made a noise.

“Stop!” It spoke moving closer to me at a faster pace. “I’m not going to harm you!”

For some odd reason, I stopped moving, and I looked down wondering why. I didn’t understand, my body has never moved like this. My room was large enough only for me to stand up and down. My mind was going blank, and I didn’t know how to respond until I felt something on me. I moved again, this time looking at the thing.

It seemed to point at itself, and made the noise again. “I know you don’t understand me yet, but I am Lilura.”

I wanted to make the same noise it was making so I decided to do it. “Lilura.”

“That’s right.” It smiled, getting down so it was directly in front of me. “Lilura.”

I got what it meant when it pointed at itself again. It was a Lilura, it was a name. “Lilura.”

“Good girl.” She showed her teeth to me again, and I jumped away in fright. The ground colored things on its face seemed to move together. Then she seemed to know what I meant. “It’s called a smile.”

                “Smile?”

“Don’t worry baby.” Something wrapped around me, and soon I was held up by Lilura. “I’m going to teach you as much as I can.”

That was how I learned everything I knew. Lilura taught me everything she could in several different places. She said she had the ability to enter someone’s mind and show a memory. The only way to do that was through someone’s dream, and that was when she taught me what she knew. I learned colors, though only saw them in the dreams, but I knew what they were when she pointed them out to me. The colors were easy, and she told me I was catching on quickly.

Neither of us knew how old I was, but she said since I was learning the basics easily, I couldn’t be older than four when I first met her. She told me she’s been in this place for almost a year, and knew she was eight. However, with the lack of nutrition she was getting from the people caring for her she remained to look younger. I was scared that would happen to me, but she said I was a lot more important to ‘them’ than she was.
