I was not surprised to discover through my research that young women in Medieval Times often fell into the trap of men's lies that still ensnare modern women, including most of the women nearest and dearest to me.
Marriage was usually only an understanding between two people rather than a legally-binding institution. Lovers often said their vows in private and considered themselves married, and if one wanted out of the union it was their word against their spouses'.

My hope, for readers who have not yet found their knight in shining armor, is that they would love and respect themselves in the meantime while they wait for the man who recognizes their worth and will build them up.
