Chapter 1- An Awkward Introduction

Reader's POV
You run down the crowded halls of Iwatobi High School, as it's your first day. Your biggest fear is being late to class, can you imagine the embarrassment? There's nothing worse! You slow your pace and glance down at your schedule.
'My class should be right here,' you think. 'Well, here goes nothing.'
You step inside the cool classroom and several eyes fall on you, most of them boys. You try to hold back a blush as you walk over to your seat by the window, when you notice a blue-eyed, black-haired boy staring out the window, as if he were day dreaming. You took a small deep breath and sat down in your seat, in front of the boy. It surprised you, he didn't adjust in his seat, make a sound, or even glance away from the seat for a second, his blue orbs content yet sparkling like the ocean.
The bell rang and snapped you out of your thoughts. The teacher stepped into the classroom, wrote her name on the board, and began talking. You tried to pay attention, but your mind kept wandering back to the boy who sat directly behind you. The more you thought about him, the more you wanted to meet him. You haven't made any close friends, er, any friends at all since you moved here, and you desperately wanted a few.
When the bell rang at the end of the class period, you were about to turn in your seat to introduce yourself to the black-haired boy when another boy ran over to him yelling, "Haru-Chan!"
You looked at the blonde haired boy who just burst in, and assumed that he and Haru (or at least you think that's what the blonde-haired boy said) were friends.
Haru glanced away from the window and looked up at the boy standing directly in front of him. He got up from his seat, still keeping the same content face, and followed the boy out of the classroom.

You quickly ate your lunch in silence. You had made up your mind that you were going to meet that black-haired boy, and you were going to do it right after lunch. Having your mind set, you got up from your table, turned and began walking- a little too quickly. You bumped into someone with such force that it knocked you over, and you fell right on your bottom. You looked up to see who you bumped into and was shocked to see Haru, his eyes widened slightly.
"Sorry," he said, "My bad." He leaned down and held out a hand to pick you up. Once you were off the ground, you dusted off your skirt and out of the corner of your eye saw Haru looking at you, with his eyes still widened and mouth opened slightly, as if he were watching with fascination. You look up and brush your (H/C) hair away from your face.
"Thank you," you tell him. "What's your name?" You already knew his name, of course, but you wanted to be able to meet him and introduce yourself properly, as well as not seem like some creeper.
"Nanase Haruka," he replied, a small smile poking at the corners of his lips. "And yours?"
"(Y/N),"
A slight blush seemed to rise to Haru's cheeks, and he quickly said, "Well, I'll see you later," then turned and walked off.

*HARU'S POV*
I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. Her (E/C) eyes are beautiful, and their sparkle reminds me of the ocean on a calm morning. Not wanting to embarrass yourself from blushing profusely, I tell (Y/N) that you'll see her around then leave.
Once the school day is over, I can't help but feel bad at the rather awkward introduction. You've never seen (Y/N) before, so she must be new.
You strip down to your swim trunks and climb into the bath, where the smooth water is already waiting. I can't help but think of (Y/N), as the water reminds me of her. She seems nice, and calm, much like yourself. I try to push (Y/N) aside in my mind. I know the feelings are not love, most likely not even a crush. Yeah, I just want to be friends with her, get to know her better, right?
I poke the dolphin that seems to stare at me, and it isn't long before I forget about the world around me for a brief amount of time.
