The light of a new day began to creep inside a room.
Camilo stood in front of the mirror, buttoning his white long-sleeve shirt, smiling brightly as he did so. He heard a flapping sound by the window and turned to see a rooster landing on the sill.
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
Camilo smirked and said, "Heh, not today, Tempo. I got up on my own. " He started walking towards his bed. The sheets and blankets were all neatly folded, and not a single wrinkle could be seen in them. He picked up his yellow ruana and tossed it in the air. He held his hands behind his back and poked his head through the neckline of his ruana. It gently sat on his shoulders and draped through his arms. He took a long, deep breath and smelled the morning breeze. He scratched and ran his fingers through his hair as he posed back to the mirror in the distance and smirked, pointing both of his fingers at it, saying, "Looking sharp." With that, he walked door and flung it open.
"What a beautiful day!" He whispered to himself.
Camilo turned to look at the white door next to his and took one big step in front of it. He stood up straight with his chest out and one of his arms on his back as he leaned closer and knocked three times. "Oh, senorita Luna! Rise and shine!"
Dolores came out of her room next to Camilo on the other side, still wearing her light yellow and lipstick red nightgown while letting her beautiful afro hair down. She held a basket full of laundry in her arms as she looked at Camilo curiously, "Why are you up so early?"
"What do you mean? I always get up early. " Camilo stared back as he crossed his arms.
"No, you don't. Do you even remember how many times we had to knock to wake you up?" Dolores replied.
Camilo scoffed as he said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I say I like waking up ahead of everyone." He looked away from her and proudly held his chin up.
Dolores looked at him and back at Luna's door. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. "Ooooohhhh... I get it... It's her, isn't it? " letting out a sly smirk.
"Well, duh! I'm standing right in front of her room. " Camilo rolled his eyes.
Dolores smirked again and said, "We don't have to worry about you living in the same house as your childhood crush, eh? Planning on making a move?" She grinned.
"Well, if you're going to, just don't let me catch you because I WILL snitch on you." She giggled.
"SIS! WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT UP, OKAY? " Camilo screamed with his face all red.
"And I never had a crush on her, alright? We were just kids! Geez!" Camilo scratched his head in frustration as he turned to Luna's door once more and stared at the doorknob.
"Mm-hmm? You forgot that I used to have the ability to hear all of the teas in Encanto. So I basically know everything." Dolores chuckled before walking towards the staircase. "Good luck, hermanito!" She said as she let out another chuckle, fading away in the distance the further she walked downstairs.
Camilo snarled and whispered to himself, "If she's so all-knowing, how come she never said anything about Luna and her disappearance?"
Camilo waited in front of her door, now leaning his back onto the railings. Everyone else came out of their rooms while he stayed still in the same position, on edge about Luna taking so long to get ready.
As he waited a bit longer, the door at the end of that hallway creaked open. Luna's brothers came outside and turned to face the stairwell when Lorenzo stopped as soon as he saw Camilo standing and staring intently at his sister's door. Lauro rushed downstairs ahead of him, and Lorenzo stayed behind. He stared at Camilo for another moment before calling out to him, "Hey, you! Yellow dude!"
