Back in the room Rapunzel walked in with Danielle still wrapped in several towels although she was already dressed because she felt cold.
Eugene was sitting in one of the armchairs in the place and when he saw them enter he approached
-Oh, it's good that you came back, I was starting to get bored-
-Eugene, it's only been less than 5 minutes-
-But it was a very long 5 minutes- He reproached
Then he looked down at Danielle and crouched down putting his hands on his knees to be at her height.
-Hello-
-H-hello- Danielle answered almost asking and with a shy voice.
-My name is Eugene, and I'm glad to meet you-
Eugene held out his hand and Danielle took it.
-Nice to meet you Eugene-
Eugene smiled since a few hours ago she wouldn't even have looked him in the eye
-Let's help you get back to...wherever you came from, in the meantime, maybe we could get along-
-I'd love to-
They both smiled at each other
Eugene got up and walked over to Rapunzel.
-Where is she going to stay?-
That... I haven't decided yet, but the castle is so big, I know we'll find something for her.
Raps paused and continued.
-I think I already got it! She could stay in the royal stables, it's very warm there and Max is excellent company, I just need a mattress, pillows and some blankets-
-Are you sure? Because she could stay in my room for a few days-
Eugene didn't seem very convinced.
-No need Eugene-
Danielle's voice interrupted them.
I don't want to cause any more trouble. It's... it's fine for me to stay where you want.-
He still wasn't entirely convinced, but if this was what Danielle wanted, he couldn't interfere. Also, there weren't too many options.
-Okay, then, good night Danielle-
-Night Eugene- Danielle waved goodbye and walked away with Rapunzel holding her arm.
They arrived at the stables along with two servants who were helping to lift the mattress and some other things.
Max was almost asleep when he was surprised to see everyone there and heading to his stable.

-Hi Max- Rapunzel greeted as she went over to stroke his nose-
Max responded with neighs and Rapunzel didn't need to speak his language to know that he was very confused.
-I know, this is weird for me too, but I really need you to do me a favor. Do you see that girl over there?
Max nodded.
"Well, she came out of nowhere and has nowhere to stay, so I thought if you could share the stable with her."
Max whinnied in clear disapproval. It was his stable and he didn't want to share it with anyone since Axel put him through some of the worst nights of his life.
Rapunzel petted him again and said:
-Please max, she won't bother you too much! I will compensate you with all the apples you want.-
Max still had doubts.
-Besides, you would be my hero-
Finally max's abstinence could not against that and he accepted.
-You are the best Max, thanks- Rapunzel hugged him
-Well Danielle, he is Maximus, the best horse of the royal guard, and my hero too. You're going to stay with him until we find something better for you. It's okay?-
Danielle nodded a little slowly. She had never seen such a big horse, but he looked friendly.
Raps smiled and began to lower all the things that were on top of a protruding wooden bench.
-Okay guys, put everything here-
She told the servants carrying things. When they finished they bowed goodbye and left.
Danielle climbed onto her "bed" while still glancing at max. They were both uncomfortable with each other's presence.
-Rest danielle, don't worry, you'll be back home soon- Raps hugged her and Max too.
Then she came out and said goodbye to her with a smile.
Danielle sat staring at nothing. She got up, and took the sack that contained all her things.
No one knew but in all that day she had only repeated one thing.
"This is just a dream"
And until that moment she kept having that idea, cheering herself up thinking that she would be home in the morning.
But when she went back to bed, she began to feel pain from the blows she had given herself that day.
In fact, in what had happened that day, everything gave her signs that she was not dreaming. She was scared, some cuts burned when she took a bath and now her abdomen and back hurt.
-This is real-
It was the last thing she said before she began to hyperventilate and then cry as she hugged the sack.
