Let's dare to dream

III

A new day began, and as usual, Danielle woke up still wishing that everything was a dream and was deeply disappointed to see the scenery to which she was not yet fully accustomed, thus starting her day already in a bad way.
Rapunzel came to see her every morning and brought her breakfast and Danielle ate it while asking when she could have a room to, in her words, "stop sleeping among dirty animals."
Rapunzel always gave her a curt answer and tried to dodge the question while taking a long breath of patience.
Afterwards, Danielle dressed and prepared to visit Varian, but today would be different, as Rapunzel had to go to a meeting with the princesses of koto and Eugene would be evaluating the applicants for the guard, so she would have to leave Danielle alone.
This was explained to her and the girl was not too happy.

"Wait, are you really going to leave me alone with Varian this time?" Couldn't you cancel your meeting? This is much more important!

-I'm sorry Danielle, I really would if I could, and you know it, but it's something I have to do.-

-Agh fine!-

Danielle rolled her eyes and got up to get dressed without even finishing her breakfast.
Rapunzel was relieved that she didn't have to beg too hard and her excitement at the reunion she was having made Danielle's attitudes dampen in her spirits.
Rapunzel left to let her get dressed and went back up to her room to get ready. She put on a beautiful pink dress that she had made herself, and Pascal was also there with all the attitude of a gentleman.
When they were ready they returned to the stables to take Danielle to Varian's.
She was very upset and Rapunzel tried to ignore the marked and heavy steps she made on purpose to show her frustration.
Raps didn't want to admit it, but she was glad she didn't have to be present at the daily meetings they had created. She had spent weeks listening to non-stop arguments and being with princesses drinking tea and having fun was something that excited her; she just hoped that everything wouldn't turn back into a mess, and with no one to stop their arguments, she didn't know what point they could reach, in the same way, she hoped that Varian would control everything, she trusted him and what he wouldn't get carried away for his negative emotions.
Danielle's anger vanished almost immediately when she saw a beautiful gold and purple carriage that was finely trimmed, white horses, and an elegantly bearing chauffeur.
Normally Rapunzel went to other kingdoms only with Max, but by protocol in koto, as a queen she had to arrive by carriage.

-Finally! Something worthy of me!

Danielle exclaimed excitedly and ran for the door. She was the first to go up and was happy to be able to enjoy something luxurious for weeks.

Rapunzel simply sighed and went up as well as Pascal showed everything Rapunzel felt inside.

-Sorry-

Said Rapunzel touching the driver's shoulder

-Before going to Koto, we must make one more stop at Old Corona-

-Yes, Your Highness-

And without saying more, the driver whipped the reins to begin the journey.
It was a quiet journey and Danielle knew how to behave perfectly. It seemed to Rapunzel that it was not the first time she had traveled in a carriage, which further confirmed her theory that she came from a luxurious home.
Arriving at Old Corona, Rapunzel addressed the driver

-Wait please, I'll only take a few minutes-

Following that, she motioned for Danielle to come down as well although she refused until she gave in rudely.

-I will miss you-

-Awww Danielle you don't have to, although thanks for...-

-I was talking to the carriage, but yes, I guess I'll miss you too princess -

Rapunzel said nothing and held back her frustration that was getting harder to hide by the minute.

They went to Varian's house and there Raps knocked on the door.

It seemed that Varian was already ready to receive them, and he opened them almost instantly.
He obviously wanted each encounter with them to end as soon as possible, and the only way to end something fast is to start fast.

As soon as he opened it Danielle walked into the house as if it were her own without even saying hello and sat in the dining room waiting for Varian with her arms folded.

It was already something usual, but Varian promised Rapunzel not to lose his cool.

-Hello Princess-

greeted her with an apathetic attitude

-Hi Varian, nice to see you and again, thanks for doing this for Danielle-

-Uh, of course, it's nothing, I guess, although you know, I'll do whatever it takes to make it go away and we never have to see that spoiled girl again-

Rapunzel wanted to pretend to be serious but she wanted to laugh

-Varian, you can't talk like that-

Until she finally ended up laughing, which made Varian laugh too.
It was nice that they could share a moment like this after almost a month where things had become very tense.
Rapunzel said goodbye to Varian and went to where the carriage was to leave while she again wished that everything was fine with those two.
Varian said goodbye in the distance and closed the door to go to the dining room with Danielle.
