Tommy felt a relief fill his body, like taking a hot bath on a cold winter day. He was driving home on full speed, blasting 80s music. The wind was blowing, the air was a little chilly and it was a perfect time to relax. He saw a familiar house among the mysterious trees, there were lights in every window giving him light on the way home. 'I guess the Harringtons came home early'. He noticed an empty garage, wide open. Steves car was gone too.
When he finally reached home was he exhausted, even tho the clock had only passed twelve. He slammed his front door shut leaving a bang hanging in the air. It was fine, because there was no one else home, just him and his mind. While holding his towel and reaching for the bathroom handle he heard a weird sound outside his window. The window overlooked their driveway which rarely contained more then one car. At first he thought that it was just a car passing by his house, but the lights on the car turned of and a person stepped out. 10 seconds later the bell filled the big house and he was first to open the door, because he could recognise the car from miles away.
The shadow slowly started to take a human form, revealing Steve Harrington, lurking in town.
Before
When he came home from school he lit all the lights in his home , mostly to make him feel less alone in his gigantic house. It was the first time he was bored, or just really lonely. He wasn't used to it, he was the king of the school. And he just couldn't stop thinking about the possibility that something had happened to Tommy, could it be connected with the message in his eyes he so clearly wanted him to receive ? He made a spontaneous decision, he started running around the house looking for his car keys, which he found buried in his grey couch. Without thinking twice he ran out the front door, leaving the house fully open. He jumped into his car, twisting his car key making the engine vroom, when he speeded in the direction of Tommys house.
To his surprise, when he reached his house, Tommy was already on his way to drive of. Steve stopped as far away as he could from his house, just so he could see what he was doing. His behaviour was abnormal, he constantly looked around, like he was being followed (well, he was, by Steve ;)) . He threw a plastic back into the backseat before he drove of into the light sunset.
It was a race, Tommys car in front and Steve driving, slowly behind him. He was constantly scared that he would be seen, also knowing that if Tommy looked into his mirror he would see his familiar car. Then it would be no point in bending down. He followed him into town.
"What the hell is he doing in town at this hour??" Steve asked himself, before he parked on the side of the road to follow him by foot. He couldn't risk getting seen, then he would never get to find out his true actions.
He was hiding , 20 meters from the main cinema entrance, also the place he saw Tommy park his car. Now he just waited, patiently, to find out what his best friend was up to.
His eyes went from Tommy to his car while he took out all his "essentials". The longer he watched the more obvious it became, he was going to graffiti the movie sign. Steve didn't know what to think, but when he started writing, he held his breath. He was really interested now.
"Hurry up you piece of shit!".
Tommys head covered a part of the text, which made it harder for him to read. When he finally stepped down from the latter, Steves heart stopped a little. The text was now clearly seen in the dark night, lighted up by the movie sign. The red text would hunt him forever. He needed answers, he just got backstabbed by his best friend with a knife, cutting into his heart. He just stood there, empty, wordless. Nothing to think, nothing to say, until he knew his reasons. With angry steps he walked the same way he came, and slammed his car door.
"That asshole has some explaining to do!".
