3rd Person POV:

[ 8 DAYS LEFT / THE PARK ]

It's been a few days since they went on a picnic by the lake. Since then, the two would continue their life the usual way they do. Although, what the boy said back then in the lake remained playing in her head for more than she could count. It was beginning to irritate the demon, how dare he say such heartwarming words?

Nonetheless, their little adventures never left their daily routine. It became a part of their daily activity that staying still at one place would feel odd and unordinary to them.

They've been through different parts of the city; even went on hiking again even if they knew that there's a chance they could get chased by bears. But luckily the second time around, there were no bears around and they got the chance to see the sunset and go stargazing again.

Both of them ran the hills and jumped from one roof to another, they did things that are both dangerous and thrilling. And when they get tired or get hurt, they would always just teleport back to the brothel or the fancy hotel the demon stays at.

It was fun, it felt as if the demon was born to chase happiness and excitement. Though, it wouldn't be as fun if her friend weren't there. The past few weeks with him, she learnt how to sympathise and care; something she never bothered to do since she would gain nothing out of it. Her friend taught her how to see beauty even in the ugliest of places, and relying or trusting others isn't a sign of weakness.

Most importantly, the demon grasped the importance of how humans function in their environment. Something she'll be able to use to control the souls of the dead once she returns to hell. Learning how each and everyone thinks and moves would give her the advantage of surpassing her siblings and being the best leader of hell's seven departments.

But now, she must enjoy her vacation before making a strategy on surpassing her siblings; on business matters, yes, but in family matters, no. The demon loves her family as much as they love her, it's only business, and they don't hold grudges against one another. They all know this fact.

Standing up to stretch, the demon wonders why the boy is taking so long to meet her in their usual spot by the park. It's not like him to be late on their usual adventures. Still, the demon sat beneath the huge tree, enjoying the soft breeze and the cloudy skies.

It's been hours since their agreed time, and the boy is still nowhere to be found. The sun was long gone, it's already a chilly evening when she decided to leave for the night. The demon thought about what they did yesterday to make the boy leave her waiting today.

They only went to visit the group of teenagers who took Jack to the abandoned building weeks ago, to see how they're fairing. Then they went afternoon shopping and ate snacks, after that, she then sent him home with food for him and his mother.

The demon scoured her brain for anything she said that might've offended her friend, but she couldn't think of anything. Maybe it's not what she said but onto what she does. Maybe she's so self centred that her friend got tired of her? Or maybe she's just too boring? The demon was overthinking things as she went back and forth from her spot.

That's when a patrolling police walked over to her and called her attention.

"Madam, what are you doing out here in the park at night? It's dangerous, you should head home now!" He informs her.

"Forgive me sir, I was just waiting for a friend of mine to arrive but... I guess he can't make it tonight." The lady did her best to nonchalantly laugh, even though what she's feeling right now is the total opposite.

"I see. Save your meeting for tomorrow, then. And just to let you know, Madam; it's best not to meet with people in this part of the city."

"And why is that?" The demon got curious and couldn't help but to listen for the policeman's words.

He clears his throat before answering.

"Just yesterday, murder took place a few streets away from here. A prostitute was killed, and from the opposite side of London, a murder also took place! This time it was a famous playwright! All within the span of a night!" The policeman proclaimed with great emphasization.

"Oh my, that indeed is scary. I should get going now, thank you for the warning, sir!" The woman hoped that it wasn't who she thought it was, that her friend is still alive and safe. The demon discarded her human disguise and immediately jumped from one roof to another to get to where the brothel was.

Once on the roof of the said building, she entered through one of the windows before going through the room where Jack and his mother occupied. She carefully opened the door but no one greeted her. So she was right, it was Mary who was killed. It was sloppily cleaned and it still smells like dried up blood.

Seeing no clue as to where her friend could be, she headed down the stairs and once again wore her human disguise. Knocking on the door, she called for the other harlot who lives in the brothel.

"Ana, are you there? It's me, Jack's friend!" She calls to the woman and the door immediately opens, revealing a sick looking woman with bags underneath her eyes.

"What do you want?" The woman groggily inquired.

"Where is Jack? Is he safe? The room upstairs is empty." The demon knows what her answer is going to be, but is it bad to hope that her friend is alive?

"Jack and Mary..." The sick looking woman sighs. "Jack killed his mother... for what reason? I can't say it myself but I bet it's resentment... You best be careful, he's still alive and for all I know, he could've gone after his own father."

"Y-You mean the playwright who was killed-"

"Jack Smith? Yeah, that's his father."

The demon felt chills run through her spine. Just a few days ago when they were having a picnic, he seemed so proud and happy of both of his parents. But hearing Ana's testimony made her question what kind of person Jack really is.

Is he really the sweet and caring boy she thought she knew? Or was he losing his mind beneath the layer of his skull? There's only one way for her questions to get answered; That is to search for the fugitive boy.

"Do you know where he is?" She asked the woman who's now drinking a bottle of booze.

"I don't know... Probably far away from the police." Ana then shuts the door closed, meaning to say that she's no longer interested in getting interrogated.

The demon wastes no time in searching for the boy. She wants to know if he really did kill his parents, or was there someone or something that drove him to do it. She silently pleads that it wasn't her friend that did it and Ana just mistook him as the killer. She could only hope that it was all a misunderstanding; while searching every nook and cranny for any sign of the silver haired boy.
