Christine pulled up to her house. Noticing an unsure Mollie, she got Freddie inside and settled upstairs. Mollie made her way to the sofa, and took a small bunny out of her bag.
Christine sat down near her.
'This is Olly, my bunny, funny thing is my mum gave it to me when I was two', Mollie told Christine.
'What did I ever do wrong?', Mollie asked.
'Sweetheart, you've only done the best you can, it is not your fault I promise you', Christine reassured her.
'It really hurts', Mollie cried.
Christine held her tightly, it didn't matter how many times she would. But she knew it made her feel safer.
'I know and I'm here', trust me', she told her.
They both sat on the sofa for a while.
Mollie fell asleep from the impact of the day.Christine went upstairs to check on Freddie.
'Hey hey', she smiled.
He showed her his dinosaurs again.
'Chrissy the dinosaur', he giggled. She impersonated a dinosaur roar.
'Right munchkin, bedtime it is', she giggled.
She tucked him into bed.
'Everything will be alright, now nighty night', Christine told him and switched a small lamp
on.Christine saw that Mollie woke up.
'Right you, into a proper bed', she joked.
Christine gave her something to wear from Imogen's charity bag.
Christine put the bedroom light on.
'Hey look it's not that bad is it?', Christine told her.
Everything felt different from home, but a good different.
'I guess you're right', Mollie sighed.
'Goodnight love', Christine whispered.
'Goodnight', Mollie replied.
Regardless of how hard that day had been, Christine made her feel so safe. How will school go for Mollie now.
