🦌Baby Deer Update🦌

So this is gonna be short. So Buttercup (that was what we ended up calling her) had to be put down last night. We've been taking her out on a leash just like you would a dog and I was the one taking her out since my mom's legs have been bothering her. I guess something spooked her and she of course bolted. She's a deer after all. The leash slipped out of my hands and she ran around our yard. Now we live out in the country so, while not massive, our yard is pretty big. We also have horses who are kept in their pasture when we don't let them out to graze. There are two gates, one on either side of the pasture, and we believe that the deer had run into the wooden gate, kept running around the house because of the adrenaline, and finally went down up around our chicken coop. We realized yesterday after the swelling went down that she had snapped her back causing her to be paralyzed from the waist down. My mother then made the decision to put her down. She put her to sleep and shot her in the head so it was instant and painless. Sorry that it had to end like that but it was fun while it lasted. Certainly an experience I won't forget.
