☆A Tether in the Wind- Stolitz

Plot: Blitz­­­ø and Stolas are in a secret relationship, but when Stolas is about to get married to Stella, Blitzø needs some reassurance that she won't change anything between them

The wind rushed past the owl as he cracked open one of the books his boyfriend had given him for his birthday a few weeks earlier. With everything that had happened recently, he hadn't yet had the chance to read it.

Not that Stolas expected to get very far, for his beloved imp would be arriving soon. And as much as he wanted to believe it was just for quality time together, that sadly wasn't the case.

Blitzø had always known that Stolas and Stella were arranged to be wed, but the wedding date was approaching much sooner than either of them had expected. The imp was struggling just to deal with the engagement, let alone this sudden development. And now, Stolas couldn't keep the truth from him any longer.

He looked up from the pages of his book when he heard a branch creak overhead, smiling at the sight of Blitzø hanging upside down by his tail from a limb above.

"Sneaking up on me again, Blitzy? How cruel," Stolas teased, closing the book and setting it aside.

"I couldn't help myself. You're fun to scare," Blitzø replied with a smirk, allowing Stolas to kiss him when the owl stood. Blitzø dropped from the branch, landing neatly on his feet. "So, what's this big important thing you needed to talk about? Need someone killed?"

Stolas sighed. "Unfortunately, no. I... There's no easy way for me to say this."

"Hold on," Blitzø cut in. "You're not breaking up with me, are you?"

"Hell, no! But..." Stolas hesitated, his voice growing soft. "My father has pushed the wedding date with Stella up. It's in a week."

The words hit Blitzø like a slap. He'd known this was a possibility, that Stolas had little say in royal matters. But still, they'd held onto hope that somehow, they'd have more time. That maybe Stolas could find a way for them to be together.

Now that time was gone.

"W-what? S-so you're really gonna leave? God damnit... she's really going to take you away from me..."

 Stolas sighed, reaching a hand out for Blitzø. "Blitzy-"

"No, Stolas!" Blitzø turned away, arms crossed tightly over his chest. "For all I know, you're just going to love her more than me! You'll leave me all alone..." A single tear slid down his cheek.

Stolas stepped forward and knelt beside him, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Blitzy, listen to me. There is nothing in all of Hell that could make me stop loving you. Stella is a nightmare. The only reason for this marriage is to produce an heir to the Goetia throne. Despite that... I would give anything to have you by my side instead of her."

"Then why don't you?" Blitzø snapped, turning to face him. "You'll be on the throne soon. You'll be able to do whatever you want! I may be just an imp, but I'm your lover. Doesn't that mean something?"

Stolas wiped the tear from his eye. "It means everything. I just... I wish it were that simple."

Blitzø stepped into his arms and wrapped his own around Stolas' neck, burying his face in his shoulder as the tears returned, softer now. Stolas rose to his feet, cradling him gently, and walked to the base of the tree, sitting down with Blitzø curled in his lap.

"You'll still be with me, right?" Blitzø whispered, his voice muffled in the crook of Stolas' neck. "You won't leave me?"

Stolas hugged him tightly, his heart aching. "Of course not. I'll love you forever, Blitzø. Stella can't change that. No one can."

They stayed like that for a long time, just holding each other, exchanging soft words and the occasional kiss to the forehead. In that moment, it felt like the world had stopped. It was just the two of them in all of Hell.

Eventually, the sky darkened.

"Blitzy," Stolas said gently, "I need to go. But I promise you, I will do whatever I can to bring you into that castle. One day, it will be our home."

Blitzø pulled back slightly and met his eyes. "I'm holding you to that."
