Karl's p.o.v
I woke up to the sound of a voice calling me.
"Karl. Karl wake up. We have to get ready to go" I opened my eyes to see Sapnap.
"What?" I said tiredly.
"We have to go see Q remember? We have to decide if we're getting the divorce or not."
I sat up and look around. I was back here even though the last place I was at was... That doesn't matter now I'm here. I opened my book to get a quick refresher on this story. I scanned over the words on the page.
"Right," I said "I forgot that was today"
"Karl I really think you need to get your memory checked out"
"I'll be fine. I promise" I said with a gleeful tone in my voice. We headed out and walked really far to this place called 'las nevadas'. I saw a man with a not so happy expression with his arms crossed seeming to be waiting for someone or something.
"We're here Q" sap said
"I can see that" the man said with a snarl. We walked over to him.
"I think we should at least try to resolve some problems before we decide." Sap said with an empathic look.
"Fine" the man said with a sigh
"I think you two need to put more effort into seeing and spending time with me. I have a whole country to run so I need help. I can't just go whenever willy nilly." He said
"Okay but you also need to make more time for us away from your work." Sap said "it's gonna take all three of us to make this marriage work."
I looked down at the ring on my hand 'that explains the ring' I thought.
"And," 'Q' begun again "I would like an apology."
"That does seem fair, I'm sorry Q." Sap said then they both looked at me.
I looked at them for a moment before saying "I'm sorry I don't quite remember what I did" I said awkwardly scratching the back of my head. The man sap keeps calling Q did not like that.
"Do you not remember or do think you didn't do anything?" He said annoyed
"Q don't be like that!" Sap said
"No. I'm aloud to feel how I feel. He has no reason not to remember! He doesn't have any head injuries or trauma that we know of! He's done this too much!" Q yelled out before looking at me. "We're supposed to be married! Why can't you be more honest with us?! Do you not trust us? Are you hiding something? We're supposed to have open communication!"
I stepped back a bit. I was nervous. Not only did I not really remember this man but I'm not huge on yelling.
"I-i'm sorry I-i really don't remember. I-i don't really remember y-you either." I said. His faced darkened.
"Yet you remember Sapnap?" He said, his voice low.
"Y-yeah kind of?" I said with more worry.
"Fine. I guess I'm not that important."
"No no! It's not like that. I just have a lot to balance."
"Like what?!"
"I'm sorry I can't..."
"Why the hell not?!"
"I just can't I'm sorry"
"If you can't then I'm done cause clearly we can't have open communication. Goodbye. I'll send you both the papers once I sign them."
He walked off and I felt so many emotions. Sadness, anger, confusion, and more. I look at sap who was definitely sad but trying to hide it.
"C-can you tell me about it Karl?" He said holding back tears. I shook my head with an apologetic look. He nodded and we headed home. Sap didn't say anything which made me felt worse. It's my fault for the divorce after all. All because I can't remember my own fiance... Once we got home and I flopped onto my bed holding my head nearly tearing out my hair. I wasn't happy. I was upset at my horrible memory. I cursed myself out before taking a nap. When I woke up I opened my book and headed to the next story. I woke up in a beautiful flower field. I looked around before getting up, I checked to see if I had any notes on this world, I didnt want another fight to break out like what just happened in the other world. Once I saw that I had no notes I sighed, a new story meant new deaths after all. I put on my cheerful smile and walked till I found a decent sized cottage, as I walked in I saw a few people. They hadn't noticed me and had been arguing about something. The words blurred after they entered my ears the only thing I could process was how loud everyone was. I covered my ears, I was going to get overstimulated at this rate. After what felt like hours someone noticed me and the yelling stopped as silence overtook the room. Finally one of them said "who the hell are you?" He was shorter than the rest and had a big scar on his face, he wore formal attire and spoke in a harsh tone. "Oh I'm sorry I dont mean to intrude, I just dont have any clue where I am" I said with a softer tone trying to be quite as to not push my overstimulation and make it worse. Another in red and black robes spoke up in a much nicer tone "oh! Where are you trying to go?" He asked ever so kindly as he pushed his glasses up onto his face. I shook my head. "I'm afraid I more so mean I woke up in the flowers near your home with very little memory," I explained causing the kinder man to cover his mouth in shock. The harsher one raised an eyebrow. "Oh I'm so terribly sorry to hear that, why dont you stay the night at least if not more," he offered but before I could respond the formal harsh man spoke up. "Are you really going to let this stranger into your home?" He asked with a scoff. "We dont have any reason not to trust him,"
"We dont have any reason to trust him!"
The two went back an forth before a taller man in more casual clothes spoke up. "Let him stay the night if anything happens or anything goes missing we can always kick him out," he said and the both agreed even if the formal man was much less eager. "You'll have to excuse them, I am James, the one in the robes is my father Thomas, the one in the formal wear is William, and the other one is mark." The one in casual wear spoke once again. "I'm Karl" I say with a soft smile, these people seemed nice, and I couldn't blame, what's his name? William! I couldn't blame William for not wanting to just trust a stranger in his home. "A pleasure, may I ask if you have seem someone named Sarah around? She is supposed to be here but it would seem she forgot," james said and William chimed in saying "Again." I shook my head as James shot him a glare; "I'm afraid not" I said with a apologetic tone and he nodded. "Its alright," he says with a more sorrowful tone. Soon after he finishes talking there's a clap of thunder and the lights go out. I hide by instinct, but when the turn back on no one has died or anything. James finds me in the cabinet almost immediately. "Are you alright?" He asks, I blush and nod. "Yeah, sorry, I have a bit of a fear of the dark due to... pass experiences." I explain, he nods and helps me out. William immediately checks if anything had been stolen. Soon we wind up talking over tea, I learn that Sarah is James's bride to be but she hasn't shown up for days and when she does she acts weird or like she's hiding something, she also seems to forget dates or anything she has scheduled with no explanation why. As we continue on sharing stories with each other the lights go out again; Jake takes my hand holding it in a way of comfort as he reassures me nothing will happen and its just from the storm. Soon we all realize the lights aren't coming back on. Thomas sets up candles and gives everyone a lantern. James keeps me company but soon leaves to help thomas cook, leaving me and William alone as mark had retired to his room until the food is finished. After a long awkward silence he started light conversation but it quickly became deeper n bigger. Soon we were sharing everything and I had no clue why or how he suddenly trusted me, until I saw the beer bottle in his hand. I sighed but I took it as a win. After another 30 minutes of me talking with a drunken William, A woman busted onto the door, she wasn't soaked somehow but I just assumed she had an umbrella. She had long brown hair, green eyes and she wore a purple dress, she held a book on hand with golden corners. She stared at me for a good while before asking "what are you doing here?" Before I could respond james did for me "He's lost and needed shelter from the storm and a place to stay for the night, now where have you been Sarah? I've been worried sick!"
"Out" she replied vaguely, James looked displeased but didnt say anything about it. Instead he said "We had plans today my love," to which she replied "I'm sorry I forgot, anyway I'm going to have a quick chat with our guest," she said. James opened his mouth to protest but before he could she had me by the arm and dragged me upstairs.
"Why are you here?" She asked in a demanding tone.
"I think he explained it perfectly well" I responded nervously.
"No I mean what are you doing in this story? This is my story. You aren't supposed to show up until I'm out of the picture!"
"Out of the picure?"
"The masquerade?!"
My eyes widened in shock before she showed the book that looked just like mine.
"You're a traveler too?" I asked my voice full of shock
"Yes and you're not supposed to be here," she said with clear annoyance still in her voice.
"I just went where the book took me" I said and she nodded but was still clearly troubled. "You'll disappear soon enough. We just have to wait till then," she said with a sigh. I nodded and we went back down stairs, as she went to check up on everyone she and james got into a fight that caused him to storm outside. I decided to follow him, he was really nice to me after all.
"Are you okay?" I asked when I finally caught up to him.
"No, she always does this, she clearly doesn't care about the relationship! She's acted like she's been waiting for it to end! We set a wedding date finally sure but now I'm not even sure I want to," he said sorrow in his tone, he was clearly in pain. "Not like I have a choice though it's all arranged anyway."
"I'm sorry to hear that, I assure you though you have a choice even if it doesn't feel like it." I say rubbing his back, we were both getting soaked but I didnt care. "I don't! Its not like I can be like 'hey yeah I hate sarah you think I get a husband instead?'" He said with more annoyance in his tone this time and my eyes widened.
"You're gay?" I asked and he immediately looked panicked trying to stutter something out but I cut him off saying "it's alright, I am as well, well pan actually but you get the jist," and as I said that he immediately calmed down. I could tell I was running out of time and so I told him "look I cannot stay any longer, but meet me at the masquerade okay?" Before he could ask questions, I walked off to the flower field I had woken up in, and disappered.
