Manhattan, New York, some might say it's a beautiful, lively city, and lots would agree with this statement. That was until a giant wormhole the size of Texas appeared in the sky, but what followed was much worse. Aliens. That's right, aliens were invading New York, and presumably after they'd finished they would move on to the rest of Earth. At least that's what twelve year old Carmen King thought as she looked up at the city she grew up in, being destroyed.
"Mommy!" Carmen yelled for her mother as she watched the building across the street from her bedroom window, fall to the ground. Imogen King; the girls mother came running into the room, with a huge backpack on, "Come on, darling we have to go!"
Quickly picking up her twelve year old daughter, the women ran out of the bedroom and out the front door of their apartment. She didn't want to risk taking the elevator since the whole building could collapse around them at any second, so she rushed down the 7 stories of stairs as fast as possible.
Once they had gotten outside the building, Imogen dropped her daughter from her arms placing her feet on the ground, "Why is this happening?" Carmen asked her mother as they stared at the massacre that was New York. "I don't know, darling. But we have to go." The woman said grabbing the girls hand and pulling her along.
They stopped suddenly when a huge shadow covered the top of them, looking up was a giant worm looking alien, floating above them. The two watched as something or rather someone in a metal suit, had started shooting at it, making it knock into the building they were previously in just a few minutes prior. The wreckage from the building crashed down onto a food cart just a few feet away from the mother and daughter.
The man in the suit, Carmen recognized as Iron Man; she knew all about him, the weird worm alien circled around and was now following him and leaving their vicinity. Once it was out of their eyesight they started running as far as they could out of the destruction. After a few minutes of running they were stopped and pulled away by a few police men, who brought the two over to a group of other civilians.
They were sat on the ground against a building, Carmen curled up into her mother's arms, jumping at every loud noise that was heard. Imogen had taken her bag off and she opened it, looking for something, but she realized what she was looking for wasn't there. She jumped up from the ground looking ahead in the destruction, her eyes suddenly spotted it.
It was only a few feet away she could get it if she was quick, "Mommy, what are you doing?" Carmen asked wondering why her mother stood up so abruptly. The woman looked over at her daughter, she crouched down in front of her, giving her a chaste kiss on the forehead, "I'll be right back Carmi, stay here."
