When I finally opened my eyes I was met with the same yellow ceiling covered in dragons that I had grown used to and let out a sigh. Not here. Anywhere but here. Daigo, you know not to take me here of all places. Free's gonna kill me when he finds out that I did the one thing that he explicitly told me to stop doing. I'm glad that I already know I'm screwed instead of overthinking it later, I guess.
"So," Came Free's deadpan voice and I cringed at the lack of expression. I mean, I know he's not one to show much emotion, but he needs to learn that he won't get that far with that little emotion. It's the most unsettling thing in the world, and not many people will appreciate it, "You got into another fight?"
Free's head suddenly appeared in my field of vision, his nose inches away from mine, and I stubbornly turned in the opposite direction only to fall off the bed. Typical. That's just what I need right now. I mumbled out an excuse, "Well, it's not my fault this world is full of buttwads, is it?"
He nodded in agreement, seeing it as almost a fair argument, which I was momentarily glad about before he threw a pillow at me and I scowled. "That doesn't suddenly make fighting your classmates alright."
"But Freeeee..." I whined, and he gave me an icy cold stare, which shut me up. Now's not the time to argue with him.
"If Lui hadn't been there to help you then that could have ended up a lot worse. That could have been serious, Kuniko." Free continued to lecture me, and I raised my hand in hope that he'll let me ask him a question. "What?"
"You mean the legendary blader, Lui Shirosagi, right?" I asked, and Free nodded like it was no big deal. If he's still here, this could be big. He could help get Daigo's confidence back. This is the big break we need!
"Yeah, why does that matter?" He asked with a confused look on his face, half-surprised I had even listened to anything he had said. Lui is the first person in the media to be openly markless, and one of the few people accepted for that. Hell, he's even in a relationship. The guy's doing good. Not many people can do what he did, especially after the situation he was once in. Him making it this far is a miracle that can rival something even the wonder boy could pull off, and that's something. The wonder boy can do ANYTHING.
"You know why I'm asking," I told him with a small smile, and Free rolled his eyes before letting out a small sigh. Was he fed up with me already? That's crazy. He's losing his touch. You'd think he'd be better at keeping up with me the more we were together, but it seemed to be having the reverse effect on him.
"He's not helping Daigo. Daigo needs to figure out his problems on his own. This world isn't sunshine and rainbows, Kuniko, and you two need to realise that. How do you think Lui got so far? Because he accepted what he had and continued with his life. You need to do the same thing." Free told me, a stern look on his face, and I nodded in understanding.
"Are either of them still here?" I asked, hoping at least one, if not both, were still here. I would be upset if neither of them had bothered to stay.
Free sighed, finally accepting the fact that I won't change my ways and nodded towards the cafeteria. "Everyone should be eating. You should be able to catch them both."
"Thanks, Free, you're the best." I got up off the floor and ran towards the cafeteria, eager to catch them both. It's highly unlikely Daigo will leave, but Lui is a lone wolf and likes to take off whenever he can, and knowing him, he probably won't stay for long. I need to get there before he decides to leave. I slammed the doors to the cafeteria open and Trad sighed.
"You're six minutes late." He told me, looking at his watch, a disappointed glint in his eye, and I wanted to slap him.
