...
Two guards were guarding the entrance of the dungeon. They were surprised to see Prince Clove walking toward them.
“Y-your Highness!” One of the guards greeted Prince Clove. Both guards were confused as to why Prince Clove would come to the dungeon.
Is this the prison of this kingdom? Prince Clove thought as his eyes wandered around the area.
Hard high walls were surrounding the tower. They had been imbued with magic as well to prevent the prisoners from escaping.
As he observed the vicinity, Prince Clove thought that it didn’t look like a dungeon. Instead, it looked like a normal tower. Also, why would they build a dungeon near the castle?
Prince Clove asked the guards if three new prisoners have been brought inside.
“Yes. Do you wish to enter, Your Highness?”
“Yes. Open the gate.”
The two guards both held the handles of the gate and opened them at the same time. Prince Clove headed inside.
The tower had double doors with two guards standing on each side.
There are guards outside the gate, as well as guards posted at the main door of the dungeon. Such tight security.
The two guards were surprised upon seeing Prince Clove. They quickly opened the door for him.
Prince Clove was about to head inside when Denver came out from the inside.
“Ah, Denver.” I was surprised for a second there. I thought that it was a prisoner trying to escape. Prince Clove thought.
“Y-you remember my name!” Denver’s eyes suddenly became watery. He was touched that Prince Clove remembered his name. He thought that Prince Clove didn’t truly care about his existence, because he regarded him with either cold or vacant expressions.
What? Of course, I remember his name. I’m not an old man that tends to forget names. Hold on, it’s not only old people who easily forget people’s names… Zerha tends to forget names, too… Prince Clove thought as he contorted his face into a dejected look. He missed Zerha and hoped she was all right.
H-huh? Why does he look so sad? “Uh… P-Prince, is something wrong?” Denver asked.
Clove snapped out of his thoughts and spoke. “Ah, no. Where are the prisoners you brought in just now?”
Denver tilted his head. “Why are you looking for them, Prince?”
“I just want to ask them something.”
What could it be?.... Come to think of it, why is he treating me coldly? Does he not like talking to me?... Denver thought and drooped. “As you head inside, you will see a staircase leading underground. There are a lot of cells there, but we put the trio in the twentieth cell. You can see the numbers above on each cell... I can accompany if you like…” Denver suggested, hoping that Prince Clove would accept his offer.
“It’s fine, you don’t have to.”
The sadness in Denver’s heart grew even more when Prince Clove rejected him. H-he really doesn’t like me, does he? “O-okay, if that’s what you want…” Denver pouted.
Prince Clove shot him an inquisitive look. What’s wrong with him? I don’t want him to accompany me since he is a captain of a guild. He might be busy. Prince Clove thought. “I’ll be going now. Thank you.”
Ugh! How cold! Does he not like me, because I act too friendly with him even though we are not that close? Denver sniffed as he stared at the back of Prince Clove, who was heading inside the dungeon.
