I was lost. I didn't know where to go, or what to do with my life. In these moments, it felt murky, uncertain, and impenetrable. That was the nastiest feeling, not knowing what I wanted. I certainly couldn't stop thinking about Morpheus. The whole day he was on my mind, but during the night I didn't have any kind of dreams. Obviously, he was furious.

Lately one of the biggest steps I've made was to sell part of the firm to Audrey. She was, of course, a little bit mad about my decision but it was the best thing to do. The next thing I did was buy a cottage and finally, find peace or thought I did.

He abandoned me, that was my punishment and I lived with it. I didn't even have a proper nightmare, that would be a sign that he cares.

Once, after almost five months Matthew the raven visited me. We both got scared of each other.

"Bloody hell." I jumped, and my heart skipped a beat.

"I beg your pardon, Mistress." The bird said.

"I did not expect to see you." I looked at my feet.

"Did he send you?" I found the strength to ask.

"He did not, Mistress. Lucienne did. She knows about..." Matthew croaked.

It broke my heart. But the fact that Lucienne knows my secret of having Morpheus's child. It was my secret to tell. Deep down I thought he knew about it.

"Please, I'm begging you, I need to see him." I could hold the heartbreak no longer and I fell to the ground in a dishevelled heap as my grief poured out in a flood of uncontrollable tears.

"Mistress Elizabeth, it's not my decision to make. I'll do my best." Matthew bowed and instantly flew to the Dreaming.

My indecision and fear are primarily to blame for leaving him. As I lay on satin sheets, all I did was caress my stomach. A tear tickled my cheek. While I was busy with my thinking Matthew completed his task.

He banged on the windows seeking my attention.

Soon as I opened he flew in bearing good news.

"Mistress, Lord Morpheus will talk to you tonight," Matthew said, but he did not say precisely where or when.

"Mathew, where shall we meet?" I yelled as he was flying away.

"Your place." He yelled out in the distance.

"My place, as my house or our place where we officially met." I talked out loud to myself.

I got dressed as soon as possible and ran towards the car. The wind was seeping through the open windows. Dark clouds gathered slowly announcing the rain.

Rain drummed the ground like a hundred marching soldiers looking like a thousand diamonds falling from the sky.

Soon as I drove there I was standing outside in the dark waiting for Morpheus to show up.

Every breath dragged more and more nausea from the pit of my stomach. I stood nervously moving around with an umbrella when out of nowhere he, my dark prince, showed up.

"You called." A cold deep voice said.

I looked into his cold blue eyes, this time he entirely looked different. My heart was beating fast. A great tremor overtook me.

"Yes, indeed. Morpheus, I wanted to tell you..." I looked at him with a lump in my throat.

"That you're carrying my child." He was so coldhearted. Far, far away from a man from my dreams.
