I remember the rage.

The anger I was forced to swallow came rushing back and I kick their knee in.  The Guide falls to their  knees with a grunt. I punch them in the face, knocking them completely to the ground. I sit on top of them continuously punching their face until there is a quiet sound of glass shattering. I notice I broke part of their mask and pause for a moment. They quickly grab ahold of  my arms and flip on top of me with ease.  They straddle my hips and pin my arms to the side of my head. The shards of  their  goggles fall onto my face then to the ground. I squirm under their grip until I catch their eye through the mask.

Their eyes don't remind me of spring. I can't tell what they remind me of. Is it at least the same comfort I've been feeling with the other Guides? I want it to be. I can't live through another lie.

Panic starts to set in, "Get off of me! Get off!" I scream.

I gather all of my strength and I push them up and off of me. I kick their leg away from me as I scramble away. We both stand up with a huff. The Void appears and peeks around my back  looking at the Guide.

The Guide scoffs, " You think you can trust your intuition? The same intuition that led you here?"

"That intuition would've set me free! I could have been free and yet you couldn't just let me drown in the flood!" I argue.

"Because you used to be better than this! Why can't you remember?" Their voice laced in frustration.

"I don't know!" I cry out.

The Void regards me for a moment then floats over to the Guide, "It's time for  you to go."

The Guide tries to resist the command but is ultimately forced to follow. They give me one last look before returning to the fog.

"If you're so concerned about the truth, then you shouldn't learn the truth from them. Everyone has their own version of the truth, you shouldn't be manipulated by them."

"You're not my truth, you are a void, you are nothing." I argue.

The Void changes its shape, it's me.

"The one thing the Guide was right about was that nothing here is real, well except the Guides." My own voice coming out of the Void.

"What are you doing?"

The Void takes a step closer to me, "I exist solely for you."

"Then why kill the Guide earlier?"

"Better question, why did you kill the Guide earlier?"

"I don't understand." I back away shaking my head.

"But you do understand, you just don't want to."

"Please stop. I can't do this right now."

"Fine by me. I mean by the looks of it the fog is getting heavy, you're already forgetting."

"No, I want the Guide to come back. I want what's real to come back."

"No." The Void draws out, " I think you want your memories back more." The Void points behind me.

I turn around and a door appears.

"Aren't you curious about what happened last spring?" The Void taunts.
