Zhan did not know how long he had been sitting on their once shared bed while holding a photo of them both when they were still so young.
In that picture, their faces were shining brightly with dazzling innocence in the form of candid smiles.
They were once loyally inseparable, 'what had happened now?'
Zhan had buried his face against the cold glass, squeezing his eyes shut to stop the tears from forming again.
If Yibo can't be his and if Zhan is so much greedy, he would have just dig out his heart and throw it away so the hurting would stop. But he couldn't do that and he wouldn't want to do that. Whether Yibo loves him back or not, Zhan wanted to keep his burning feelings for him. Yibo earned his heart and only Yibo deserves his purest love.
It was just so sad that Yibo couldn't remember even the simplest details that they've shared. That room, that bed, the memories, they were all erased from Yibo's awareness.
Zhan felt bitter-sweet too.
Wasn't it Yibo himself who had invaded Zhan's room and made it his own? Wasn't it Yibo who brought his things to Zhan's room and mixed it with Zhan's belongings when the elder moved to University?
And that same bed, wasn't it the same base that anchored their combined weight when Yibo suddenly pinned him down and stole a kiss from him when he was drunk? Zhan became more sulky, he did not even received an explanation for that kiss! Or why Yibo was so sad that night. Who had he mistaken Zhan for? Who was the one he was longing instead of Zhan?
Zhan has so much to complain, to ask and to beg from the younger, but how could he now? All of them are now gone from Yibo's mind!
Zhan don't know what to do but to shush the screaming in his chest, to control the urges to just pull Yibo into his arms and let him hear the beating of his heart painfully longing for him.
It was hopeless, sad and lonely staying in that room, in that house, and at Yibo's side remembering everything all on his own. However, Zhan knew by heart that he shouldn't be greedy at this time but be unrelentlessly considerate and compassionate.
Yibo needs all the support and care he could get. Thus, Zhan shouldn't be stingy and selfish especially now.

After that phase, it was amazing and scary how fast things changed.
At the start, when Yibo had just regained his memories, all he had was Seungyoung, Mrs. Wei and Zhan. But as months went by, he had rebuilt his connections back to the friends he had made in the past and build new connections to the people he'd just met. His circle expanded swiftly which was new and strange.
Nonetheless, this was a progress which benefited Yibo's personality and relations. He became more open, more approachable. The aloofness he had naturally had in him slowly turned into sensible interest and amity.
Zhan also acknowledged the positives in these changes. Yibo seemed to gladly overly like the new him including his regained independence and confidence.
"It isn't unheard of, Zhan. Personality changes sometimes occur as a consequence of amnesia." Yibo's psychologist reassured Zhan. "As long as the shift in behaviour isn't causing harm or problems, we can just continue monitoring his progress."
Reading through the furrow in Zhan's brow, the old man sensed Zhan's insecurities now that Yibo found new people to be associated with whilst still not recovering his memories of Zhan. Unbiasedly, the Doctor could only remind the younger, "We cannot force healing to commence, Zhan. Recovery from amnesia occurs as a matter of natural course and largely on its own."
Zhan quietly got on as he took in the old man's sincere words.
He blanked out wandering in the streets back home, feeling the cold loneliness embraced him as he paced under the gloomy weather of Autumn.
Shortly, light fall of shower touched his skin deliberately. Yet, his glum mood and low-spirit made him unconcerned of this saturating wetness. Zhan steadily marched his way unhurriedly, drenching under the depressing weather until...
"Meow!" a white kitten, soaking wet like him, crashed against his foot. Zhan's steps faltered and he bowed down. The little creature was trembling in cold, staring back at him. It was pitiful looking, just like him.
"Meow!" It mewed again and bashfully rubbed its head on Zhan's leg. Zhan stooped down, stroking its wet head.
As he stared at the little guy, its rounded amber eyes reminded him of Yibo's light ones. Even its pure white fluff was as white as Yibo's jade skin.
The similarities were uncanny which made Zhan's frown turn into upturn cresent.
This tiny feline snuggled in his arm comfortably as soon as Zhan picked it up. But the reposeful meeting was cut short when someone remarked from Zhan's side, "Oh thank God you picked him up, Sir! Please don't let it run away!"
A panicked shop assistant was catching his breath. "The boss would've taken my month's salary if I won't be able to take him back to the pet shop!" He exclaimed, anxious yet finally relieved that the run away kitten was found.
Zhan planned to surrender the cat to its owner pronto but upon handing over the measly back, the tiny cutie meowed at him again. Its amber eyes seemed to be pleading at him, bewitching his soft-spot.
Zhan must've gone crazy, "How much?" He impulsively asked which stopped the staff from walking away.
"I'll buy him. How much?"
He must really be lonely and out of his mind, he would return home soaked under the rain with a tiny little white cat in his arms!
